These parts work fine, and they were shipped very quickly and well packaged.

My story:

The previous owner installed heat cable to try to deal with ice damming, but no clips, so the cables were lying in the gutters but not on the roof. I had considered heat cable on my last house which also had ice damming problems, but decided not to because it sounded expensive and not great results. Anyway, because these were already installed I figured I'd see if I could make them work.

The clips work as promised, but I'm not sure the heating cables do. Now that they're on the roof too, they melt the snow when it's falling, so there's less build up of snow. That's a problem when sun heats the roof or heat leaking from the house melts the snow all at once; that's when the ice dams really build up.

However the cables are not warm enough to melt a lot of ice, although having them on the roof and in the gutters is a better idea than just in the gutters. If they were hotter they might work, but also be a fire hazard and suck up a lot of electricity. But the clips themselves work as promised.

Besides getting up on a ladder and chopping the ice off, which threatens the health of the shingles, I've found the following solution to work best: get some cheap nylon calf-length women's stockings, fill them with ice melt (not salt, but something that won't harm your shingles; I use calcium chloride pellets), tie them in a knot, and toss them onto the roof. Be careful not to breath in the dust from the ice melt, I'm pretty sure it's not good for your lungs.

I bought this because I didn't want to be caught short when I installed the ADKS De-icing kit. This was not necessary. The kit comes with plenty of clips.

I have tried making my own clips for use under shingles using stiff wire, modified picture hangers, and hangers for Christmas tree lights, but these are the only ones that grip the shingle underneath holding them in place. The Christmas tree light hangers also work, but being made of plastic, they get dried out and become brittle from the heat of the De-Icing cable and the heat of the sun...or the squirrels get to them...they only held up for one winter. These metal clips are not affected by heat and easy to install.

makes hanging the de-icing cable a snap.would have be better if I put the cable and clips up way b4 winter;).hard to work when hands are frozen.side note: save all the extra clips and hooks, you would not believe how many small jobs you can use them on.if you are in to crafts your going to love them even more.

Bought these clips to have as extras and also to insure I had enough clips when installing the heat cable. The heat cable came with plenty of clips so I didn't have to open these. But at least I have them in case other clips need to be replaced. It's an inexpensive item to have on hand!

There were plenty of clips that came with the cable but I find them a little weak, these are the same. I'd like to see some spring pressure to these that helps to grip the shingle rather than just the tiny teeth that poke the under side of the shingle. They have been working fine on on my 3/12 pitch roof but I can see people with a steeper pitch possibly having trouble.

These are very easy to work with and if you bend them out just a little, they will fit on you shingles easily. If you bend them out a little, remember to push down on the shingle so that the teeth sink in. They hold the heat cable in place very well with no damage to the heat cable or the shingles.

After our first large snowstorm this winter. I have found the de-icing cables to be doing their job. Time will tell as the winter progresses, but so far so good. The clips are holding and installation was easy ,just follow the recommended spacing of cables in the installation instructions. A good value!

I had searched for a while (including brick and mortar businesses) for these roof wire clips. This was exactly what I hoped to find. Price was low and ordering a snap. They arrived very soon, and I've already installed them. They do minimal damage to roof shingles. Just waiting for lots of snow!

I bought these thinking that I would need more clips than what came with the cable. I didn't need them at all but wil say that they are very easy to use and work well.
