Book Description

Easy. Homemade. features recipes for more than 60 homemade kitchen staples as well as kitchen tips, information about choosing various ingredients and more. As a self-proclaimed kitchen dunce, Mandi Ehman is far from an accomplished chef, but she's found that making things from scratch -- even the things we typically buy without even considering that we could make them at home -- is actually pretty easy. She's passionate about empowering other busy families to do the same with tried-and-true recipes that can be made with basic ingredients and don't require a lot of time.

4.0 out of 5 stars Terrific Resource, Simple Recipes August 18, 2012
By Winona
Format:Kindle Edition
I was pleasantly suprised by the recipes contained in "Easy Homemade". If you're at all interested in cooking more from scratch & whole food recipes, this is a great starter to get rid of the salty, sugary store-bought versions of these recipes. I learned the ratio key to making a great italian dressing, a replacement for those salt filled "cream of" soups, how to make various beverages, pantry staples such as tomato paste, replacements for package seasonings, mixes and more. The best part about the recipes is that they WILL save you money!
I consider myself an experienced cook, but Mandi still managed to include tips and tricks I did not know. I'd happily recommend this to both new and seasoned cooks, and plan on involving my young son in measuring and making up the various recipes - what a great tool to teach him about deliberately making healthier choices with only a little planning!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Basics Made Simple August 10, 2012
By Diana
Format:Kindle Edition
I thoroughly enjoyed reading through this ebook! Even though I already enjoy making many of our pantry staples from scratch (spaghetti sauce, salsa, smoothies, and muffins to name a few), there were still things that were new to me, including an easy ketchup recipe, onion soup mix, and sweetened condensed milk. And it even told me how to get French press coffee without a French press! (Tried it, and it was delicious :) )

The easy-to-read format made it quick to skim through and easy to find what I was looking for, and the pictures were clear and helpful. If you're interested in avoiding processed foods by making your own versions of things, you'll find lots of helpful recipes in this book. And they really are easy!

There was nothing new or creative in this book. I found it boring. No pictures no inspiration. Seems copied. Would have liked better tips.

I will proabably reference once or twice, but not on an everyday basis. Cheap does not have to equal less food.
