Not as awesome as it sounds,

I really wanted to like this book more than I did. Unfortunately many of the recipes essentially boil down to "Prepare this like you would anywhere else in the world (boil, roast, etc), then top it with some soy sauce - hey look! Now it's Japanese!" Unfortunately new ideas just weren't thick on the ground, and this work didn't dig into the richness of traditional Japanese cuisine - falling back surprisingly regularly on Mediterranean and cheese based dishes. If you're looking for ovo-lacto vegetarian (cheese and egg allowed) and don't know what vegetables are out there - this might be useful for you. If you're passingly familiar with how to serve vegetables and want to supplement your existing recipes with something more Japanese - look elsewhere.

Cows were not a common sight in Japan, and their culture has spawned much in the way of vegetarian cooking. "Veggie Haven: Easy Japanese Cooking" is another entry in Kentaro Kobayashi's Easy Japanese Cooking series, providing many vegetarian dishes that are inspired by traditional or modern Japanese cooking methods. Everything from Tofu steak, Vietnamese Omelets, to Shiitake Stir Fry Donburi, "Veggie Haven" is a true treasure trove of cooking ideas that should be considered by many a vegetarian.

Great cookbook with lots of easy to make recipes. There are some ingredients you might have to buy before starting to cook from this cookbook, but I already had most of it since I cook a lot of Asian food. The recipes are easy to make but very tasty. I would definitely recommend this book!
