It works with any standard wine bottle and is assembled and ready to use. The brass plated socket has a push-thru, on-off switch and the 8 foot gold cord has a polarized, molded end plug. The 1" cork measures 7/8" in diameter at the top and tapers to 5/8" at the bottom. (Please note that this kit is for indoor use only). All you need to do is push the cork snugly into your empty wine bottle. The cord exits from the side of the socket so there is no drilling or wiring assembly required. I saw this idea in a magazine was so excited to make a personal lamp for a gift. But the cord just hung down awkwardly and the whole thing was wobbly. I had high hopes and it was a bit of a disappointment.

Works well, and the cork/lamp fits most bottles, vodka or beer included. Keep in mind the smaller the bulb the better, particularly if you will not be using a lamp shade. I use mine as a bar lamp in a small vodka bottle, with a stained glass 25 watt bulb or 7 watt for softer lighting - no shade. The socket holds medium based bulbs - worth noting.

I was very excited to make lamps for Christmas gifts. The order arrived over a week ago, but I just now took a look at it and it came without the important cork! I will probably be able to makeshift something out of it, but items should arrive complete and I see that I'm not the first person to have experience this. Will never work with this company again!
