Swingin' with Barney, December 18, 2000

Much like Kessel's other 1950's recordings for Contemporary, this one swings hard and features great playing by Barney and his associates on this one; Bud Shank, Arnold Ross, Harry Babsin and Shelly Manne. 12 tracks plus 2 alternate takes mostly made up of standards like April in Paris, Tenderly and That's All. A nice combination of up tempo swing and ballads and great, great chemistry between the players here. If you like swing guitar this one is highly recommended.
