5.0 out of 5 stars great way to break the ice!
I am fairly new to healthy relationships and thought this book was a great primer! So much of the info I had heard, but not through these eyes. I think Ms Faulkner must have some excellent recovery experience herself as she really seems to nail scenarios!Take a chance and beef up your skills before you tackle a new relationship or just get some validation for mainataining...

3.0 out of 5 stars An Okay Read for....
This book was average, an okay read for those who are just starting out in a committed relationship with another person in recovery. I bought it because I love reading about new ways to improve an already tough situation. This book was average, an okay read for those who are just starting out in a committed relationship with another person in recovery. I bought it because I love reading about new ways to improve an already tough situation. Because we already have a diverse palate of "character defects" and "shortcomings", I think any additional help is useful when it comes to the conflicts my significant other and I have. The only downfall to this book that I found, putting aside the high expectations I had prior to my purchase, was that the advice felt geared towards traditional, "normal" relationships. I guess I was looking for something a little more specific for my particular problems, but the solutions and activities suggested for couples to perform can be applied to almost any situation if one tries hard enough. I'd try to borrow it from a friend or scan it in a bookstore before making a purchase.

As the girlfriend of the person who i bought this book for I would definately suggest that the girl reads the book first and then lets the boy read it...its pretty typical for men to forget the feeling portion of the book (which a lot of it is) LOL! I hope that this book gives my bf the confidence and security he needs to stick with our relationship while he is in rehab!
