I bought this book to use in a class on paper piecing. It's a good intro to paper piecing and the vests are great. There are three major pattern styles--but endless possibilities. I made my Mom's birthday vest from the pattern in this book, and I made a sewing vest for myself out of quilt scraps. These are art vests and if you don't wear vests--they look great hung on the wall too. Carol Doak is clear and accurrate and she doesn't leave out any of the steps. Another of my cherished Foundation piecing books - my second Carol Doak one. What a lovely selection to choose from. I hope vests don't go out of fashion too soon. These are all very special. Vest patterns in a number of sizings and styles are included but the techniques can be used on any pattern you have. Well worth having.

Carol Doak's EASY REVERSIBLE VESTS comes in a fine revised edition to cover new block designs and piecing options for producing reversible vests. From choosing appropriate colors and scales to full-sized pullout vest patterns, this is especially recommended for home quilters and sewers who want something different in the way of vest projects.

I have the new revised book! It is wonderful. The vests are beautiful and in sizes to fit most people. The blocks are great and Carol's instructions seem to take the mystery out of making the vest. I can't wait to make one.

Foundation and paper piecing --- something I never have gotten used to. Ms. Doak teaches you how to use foundation piecing to create reversible vests. Her explanations are detailed enough to cover everything but easy enough to follow.

Color selection, basics and working with strips are the beginning sections and give you a firm idea of where to begin. Paper piecing block instructions come next, followed by how to combining the strips and blocks. A section on embellishing the materials used will given you ideas of how to add extra sparkle to the vest. Of course, the next section covers how to assemble the whole project. There are plenty of graphics throughout for those of use who are better at visuals than words.

There are a dozen vest patterns in the book. Each pattern has three colorways. All of the paper pieced block templates are given at full size. The final section is a tear-out of the actual vest pattern.

All in all, you get everything you need, instruction-wise, to make these vests. Make one for yourself or several to give as gifts.

pattern to make it longer, but I was very
successful, and the finished result was
worth the effort.

I was very happy to locate a copy of this book. There is a newer version out but this book has the pattern that I was looking for - which for some reason was eliminated in the newer version. I love this book!

This was a gift for my wife, who is a Carol Doak fan. She loves it.
