Just what is an easy rose? It is a garden shrub that is as easy to grow as an azalea, lilac, or dogwood...There are easy roses for every North American soil and climate, and they thrive with no more care than one annual pruning, an occasional feeding, and perhaps a weekly watering during a drought.

Although he mentions consultants that he used from every section of the country, only one of their recommendations for their section was mentioned in the book. I bought it because it purported to have information for sections of the country. The information given was basic and I would suggest getting a paperback book and saving your money.

The pictures were good -- the best part of the book by far. A small selection of each different type of rose (tea, hybrid tea, floribunda, rugosa, polyantha, etc) was given.

4.0 out of 5 stars This rose gardener's delighted., May 9, 2002

This book is a satisfying read, not often the case with a garden book, and it's beautifully organized. I liked it so much that I bought a few copies. I knew I'd want to lend it out, and I knew that anyone who likes it as much as I do might be reluctant to return it.

The information about individual roses is laid out well, the photographs are handsome and clear, and the specifications are all there, as well as parentage. I'm not a rosarian, so I don't know what the book doesn't have, but it has everything I need.

The book deserved a more complete index, which was the only weakness I found.

Book arrived in good condition. I am just new to this colder zone so I need help in planning what to plant that will survive. Easy Roses gives a very comprehensive description of that. I review books from the library then purchase what I think I will be using for a reference for a number of years. Although I use the internet for looking up information I still like to have a book to read on my spare time. Amazon has always made it affordable for me to do this. Every purchase just like this one has arrived in good condition and in a timely manner.
