About the Author

Since 2000. Ryland Peters & Small was founded in 1995 to bring a breath of fresh air to illustrated book publishing. At their offices in London and New York they work with the best authors, photographers, illustrators and stylists to create books that combine innovative, cutting-edge design and images with practical, accessible information. Their beautiful books are devoted to the pleasures of life: health and wellbeing, our homes and gardens, the food we eat, the wine we drink. Ryland Peters & Small staff has enormous fun creating their books, and they hope you have as much fun reading them. In 1999 they launched the Paperstyle gift range of elegant notecards, journals, interactive journals and address books. All perfect for gifts – but perhaps too good to give away?

Usually when I flip through a cookbook, if it's a good one for me, about half the recipes I notice sound like I'd want to make them; and as a professional private chef, I'm pretty picky. And my experience of most crock-pot cookbooks has been that they are repetitious, uninteresting, and seem to be stretching to find things to make. But this one, every page I opened to looked and sounded like something I'd be happy to make for myself or my clients! I've already tried a couple of them and they were excellent. I even gave a copy of this cookbook to my sister-in-law, and she too was delighted with it. If you get only one crock-pot cookbook, make it this one.

Have enjoyed two really good recipes from this book. Lovely format, easy to follow. Recipes do involve some prepreparation but having dinner ready at night makes up for it.

This book made me realize how much range and deliciousness is possible with a slow cooker. We've made over 10 recipes now, all of which have blown us away. This is probably the most useful cookbook I've ever purchased. Note: there are lots of ethnic dishes, like curries, so this book is probably not for everyone.

I followed the Yankee Pot Roast recipe which had me cook the $30 roast for seven hours on HIGH. I reread the directions numerous times and then decided they knew better than I how to cook a roast in a slow cooker. Boy was that a mistake. I came home to a roast that was completely dessicated and could be used to resole some shoes...

Maybe I just got a dud of a recipe but I would take a pass on this book based on this or I can get mine out of the trash if you would like it.
