Michael G., of Easy Star All Stars fame, triumphs as a dancehall riddim master. The riddims on this release, "Pick Up," "Cool Down" and "Thai Stick" motivate the body and soul.
With great vocals from the likes of Luciano, Frankie Paul, Half Pint, Tony Tuff, Rob Symeon and others, it's nearly impossible to not reflexively begin dancing whilst listening.
It's also extremely refreshing to hear a few female voices shining through in the dancehall genre as it is so male dominated. Sister Nancy and Minx are a great treat.
The riddims and vocals, while pure dancehall, conjure that roots & culture reggae feeling and sound. It's the 21st century electronic equivalent of roots reggae.
