1.0 out of 5 stars Worst Vegetarian recipe book ever! December 14, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
"This is the worst vegetarian slow cooker recipe book I have ever seen. I would not even call this a cookbook because it does not take much of a cook to open a can of soup, dump in into the slow cooker, add a jar of cheese on top, stir it up and call it a meal. If you are looking for healthy meals then I suggest you look somewhere else. Not worth its price of $2.99"

2.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely terrible September 19, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book is painful to read. I gave it two stars instead of one only because it is what it says it is and I am interested in trying out some of the recipes. I'm reading it on my Kindle Fire. The first thing I noticed is that the recipes don't have titles! Which is a real pain when trying to figure out what all of the ingredients make. Maybe that would be fun if you are looking for a mystery cookbook or if you like puzzles, but to me it was just frustrating! The second thing that annoys me about this book is that it is pretty much an advertisement for her other books and some "special gift". The adverts are on every page! I am highly disappointed. Save yourself the pain and for easy vegetarian slow cooker recipes, just do a quick Google search. I definitely do not recommend spending money on this book.

1.0 out of 5 stars FAILED MY EXPECTATIONS December 15, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I am a working single mom and I greatly depend on slow cooker for cooking. I was in search for a slow cooker recipes book and I came across this book which has the perfect title to fit my situation. I was so excited to get this book and start cooking healthy vegetarian food for my kids and the excitement fuelled with the reviews praising the book online. So I bought it and tested the recipes and I tell you it was a shock to me, the book failed my expectations.
This book has left me annoyed due to various reasons. The most annoying thing about this book is that bulk of recipes is not very healthy because the author promotes use of canned foods for ingredients rather than fresh foods. I want to cook healthy food for my children not food that is loaded with salts and preservatives. The other thing is that when I tested the recipes the cooking timings turned out to be different than what is mentioned. Also many recipes are not for use, they are simply repeated, and I did not intent to pay money for recipes that are not useful.
The book overall is not very helpful as well as healthy. And the only reason I give it one star is because of I liked one or two recipes which I plan to make again other than that the book is not too bad but also not that good either. I hope my experience with this book will help others who plan to buy it. Also we might be busy working women but that does not mean we cook unhealthy for ourselves and our dear family due to this book!

1.0 out of 5 stars A BOOK WITH MORE DRAMA THAN GOOD RECIPES!!!! February 4, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
I was going to buy this book, but hesitated once I saw the wide ranging reviews it received. After reading the review, I decided against buying this book. There is something very wrong with all the reviews left on this book. I definitely believe the five star reviews appear to be planted by the author. I refuse to support an author who is involved in sock puppetry and that makes a mockery of the review system. Furthermore, a review of the recipes in the book did not impress me one bit. Many of the recipes are duplicates under different names (i.e., Heart Barley Vegetable Soup and the Quick and Inviting Vegetable Barley Soup ... and Amazing Slow Cooker Macaroni and Cheese and the Perfect Macaroni and Cheese). In short, I will be giving my money to an author who is not into fake and misleading reviews and the offers a wide variety of great recipes .... Without all the drama the seems to surround this book.

1.0 out of 5 stars More of the same... November 15, 2012
By KarmaG
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I read the reviews and had mixed thoughts due to the extremes of the reviews. Glad the book was only 2.99 and I had a credit saved up from another purchase because this sucks. As another reviewer says many of the recipes are repeated, at least once some times more. 99% of the ingredients are canned items. Definitely NOT what I was hoping for.

Edited to add: I have requested a refund from Amazon and it should be credited momentarily. That's how bad this cookbook was. I requested the refund less than 30 minutes after purchasing.

2.0 out of 5 stars some hit, mostly miss March 26, 2013
By Sofia
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
So, I avoid potatoes, pastas, and a lot of cheese because a member of my household is trying to manage cholesterol and higher blood sugar without medicine, and so far doing well. When I read that the author was trying to make simple, nutritious food for her recovering mother, I thought we'd be in business. But starch is everywhere in this book. Beyond that, I follow recipes religiously and about 3/4 of those I have tried have been barely edible. I am practically phobic about wasting food, and threw away two recipes. I simply couldn't swallow them down. It may be due to the use of foods processed ahead of time for you (presumably for convenience) likely introducing variability of flavors, (tomato sauce in a can etc) but the flavors just never get harmonious... Some recipes seem to try to shove too much into one recipe, which also might not help. Also, and somewhat unrelated, I have decided that using a kindle for cookbooks is not good as I can't make notes for next time. The search for a reliable vegetarian slow cooker book continues.

This book is OK but nothing special....I will probably use a few of the recipes as I am always looking for variety for the pot.

More About the Author

My name is Sarah Jessica Cook (pity that it is not "Parker", because I'm a big fan of "Sex and The City") and I'm happy to present you my best selling cookbook series "for Busy Women".

You may say: "STOP! Why Your Books are So Special?"

Well... I had cooked most of these recipes for my mom when she got stroke and was recovering at home. I don't know whether it helped but did not hurt that's for sure. This is critically important for me because she is fine now...
Completely recovered after TWO strokes!

Can you imagine this?

Was it just a miracle? Or maybe it was a good doctor? Maybe good food with my endless love...

I really don't know. But I'm happy that my mom is fine now and I can share my story and these wonderful recipes with you!
