This is really a wonderful little cookbook, created by the editor of Instructables.com. Includes a fully linked Table-of-Contents, and also includes links to the website, directly to the recipes and the individual member who contributed the recipe. There are 12 recipes in all, and each includes nice clear pictures, and step-by-step, very detailed instructions (down to the tiniest details, which is almost over-kill on some recipes, but may come in handy for less-experienced cooks), with pictures for each step. Preparing less common ingredients include further detailed instructions (example: How to "salt and sweat" eggplant).

Most of the recipes also include links to the website, with related recipes.

Because the recipes include each step, the recipes (and photos) are spread over several pages, making it be possibly a little bit too many flipping pages back-and-forth. I noticed one of the recipes had a one-page "printer-friendly" synapses of the entire recipe, and think the entire cook-book could have benefited from this tactic. (This is the only reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 - would like to have all recipes in a "condensed" version as well).

Some of the recipes included are:

How to Prepare Scrumptious Caponata
Eggplant Parmesan
Fiery Pumpkin Somosas
Veggie Mexican Lasagne (Yummy!)
Easy Vegetarian Chile

So I was pretty excited to spot a free Kindle book called Easy Vegetarian Recipes, and downloaded it to my iPad Kindle app. Opened it up, scanned the table of contents. The first recipe is "Effortless Chili for Cold Days." It's cold out, I like Vegetarian Chili, let's take a look. What's this: "Optional ingredient: Cooked ground beef/turkey." Hmmm. That's a bit odd. Well, it is an optional ingredient, so I suppose that's okay. Weird, though. ... Oh, look at the end of the recipe, there's links to more recipes. Hmmm. "Scrumptious Pot Roast." "Southern Style Smoke Sausage." "Beef Stew." "Chicken Stock." Ooookay. Did I misread the title? Nope. That is definitely Vegetarian not Virginian or Victorian or ... anything that would make these selections make sense. I'm glad it was free, 'cause I'd be upset instead of amused if I'd paid money for this.

True to the Title November 25, 2011

As a vegetarian, I'm always looking for interesting and fun recipes to try out. Often cookbooks will contain a bunch of the same-old same-old in vegetarian cuisine.

I bought this as a whim due to the free list price, and was glad to see that the recipes were unique and tasty-looking. I decided to try out the Fiery Pumpkin Samosas for thanksgiving and though they were very spicy (I think I'll lay back on the chiles next time for my own taste), the instructions were clearly laid out and easy to follow, and the links placed throughout were helpful. And true to the title, they were very simple and easy to make.

I can't wait to try the other recipes in this book. :)

Also, I hadn't noticed until I bought it, but I was pleasantly surprised to find it was constructed from instructables. I'm always happy to support such a great site. I'd love to see other books created by them.

A whole lot of stuff
The recipes in this book are decent. The problem I have with it is that there is so much to wade through to get to the recipes. Read more

This is worth the freebie price
This cookbook was free so I can't complain too much. I like the links to other websites that are very informative. The 12 recipes included are good and easy to make. Read more

Decent recipes, but the format is frustrating
Honestly, I didn't actually finish looking through this cookbook. The first few recipes looked like they had potential, but the amount of pictures, and the way they are... Read more

Good recipes - too many pictures
As the title says, good recipes, too many pictures for anyone who's not a beginner (the constant flicking pages starts to get irritating if you're just looking through on recipe).

not very imaginative
I found this book way too basic, providing few interesting recipes. I would not reccommend unless you have only minimal cooking experience.

easy recipes
I was not impressed with this book. It was ok for a beginner cook. Or teenager. But not for a seasoned cook. For free it was okay. I would not spent money on it.
