Question: What inspired you to write "Easy Weight Loss Yoga"?
PB: I felt there was a need for those struggling with being overweight to understand the mechanics of real, lasting weight loss, and stop wasting time on things that do not work, including fasting, diet shakes, dangerous pills, and herbal concoctions. Plus yoga has many other mind/body benefits that go into helping someone become an extraordinarily happy human being.
Q: Did you ever have eating or diet issues of your own?
PB: I was a compulsive overeater when I was younger, but was also a compulsive exerciser, so I never allowed myself to get more than 20 pounds over my goal weight. My weight has normalized since I healed the causes of my emotional eating with yoga and Vivation breathwork.
Q: What personal benefits have you derived from yoga and Vivation?
PB: For me, yoga is a path of personal growth, not only a method of staying slender and fit. And Vivation has helped me heal the underlying causes of my unhappiness and dissatisfaction with my body. Overall, I'm a much happier person since I started doing Vivation 25 years ago.
Q: How has yoga helped you in your life?
PB: Yoga helps me to be calm and centered, I concentrate better and I get over upsets much more easily. I'm less likely to take remarks personally, and more compassionate to the problems that others may be having.
Q: How has Vivation changed your life?
PB: I use Vivation constantly to heal negative emotions that prevent me from enjoying the moment. I also use it to invigorate myself when I'm feeling sluggish, and to calm down or bring on sleep when I'm feeling restless.
Q: What does yoga mean to you?
PB: I cannot imagine life without the self-awareness that yoga creates. There is nothing like that calm, relaxed feeling of accomplishment after completing a yoga session. Oh yes, and the endorphins, I always love those.
Q: Does yoga make you happy? Reduce your stress? Relax you? Improve the quality of your life? Extend your life? Has yoga given you peace of mind and put you in touch with your spirituality?
PB: Yoga and Vivation have completely shaped who I am as a person. I think differently and as a result, cause beneficial things to happen my life that I might not have experienced otherwise. I believe that practicing yoga has made me a better person, more in touch with my true nature, serene, compassionate, and accepting.
Q: What do you hope people will take away from reading Easy Weight Loss Yoga?
PB: I hope that people will get that you are not simply your body, that you have the responsibility to create yourself as a fully actualized human being--loving, tender, strong and able to weather the unpredictability of life. I hope the reader's takeaway on losing weight is that you CAN create the body you want, it's not all that hard, it simply requires commitment and consistency.
