This is one of those great little products that sounds good until you get it and then turns out to be ruddy marvellous. It is basically a two part product. The doorbell is really compact and can be fitted to the front of your abode. It is water proof and is powered by a dinkum little battery called a 23A 12v - which is supplied, you just have to remove the protective slip for it to be engaged.

It can be fixed with a double sided adhesive to the outside and that too comes supplied. Or for a more secure fix, there are two wall screws which are also supplied. It is also waterproof so ideal for my rubbish climate. Then there is the actual bell unit which is basically a plug attachment with the receiver attached. It just plugs into a socket and you are ready to go. Well almost as the next step I found to be the most fun, and that is choosing which of the 36 ring tones you want to hear every time someone tries to sell you unwanted double glazing or to get you to switch energy supplier. So do chose wisely, I went for a digital version of `the sound of silence' and that wore thin pretty quick I can tell you. I have ended up with a short one with someone saying something in Chinese; I haven't worked out what yet, just hope it is not offensive.

Once you have selected your tune of choice that is it. The range of the door bell to the receiver is 100 metres so unless you live in some sort of palace it should be ideal anywhere in your home and that means you can change location if say you are out the back in the garden, garage or what ever. I got a sample in exchange for an honest review and so now I must say the one down side and that is the `instructions'. They have quite clearly been translated from the original Chinese, Mandarin or Cantonese I do not know and it makes for clumsy albeit amusing reading. Here is a taster `to avoid the product device and wet, rain directly spraying, long time exposure, close to metal complexes.' Which I think means if it is in a really wet location prolonged exposure to metal parts will result in it being knackered at some point, well enough said.

But despite that little translation gripe this is still a brilliant and fun product and I absolutely love it. Fun and functional what is there not to like.

I though for the price it would be a piece of junk. I was pleasantly surprised as it is a nice compact unit. Many bell/sound choices. The wall unit has a blue LED so you know it is connected.

So easy to install. Pull out the strip to activate the battery & stick the push button up on the door or has included screws to install. Plug in the chime and your good to go. Sounds ding dong two times. The large button is easy to press & sounds the entire length of our home, about 2000 square foot.

This is an awesome product!

The first thing I did when I got it was plug the "noisy" piece into an outlet in my little sisters room so I could *ring* her from anywhere in the house and scare the crap out of her. It worked, I laughed.. a lot.

This is basically a two part product. All you need to do is put a tweezer or butter knife into the small slit on the push button part to remove the paper from the battery .. plug in the receiver and you're good to go. The sound is loud, very loud.. but adjusts. There are a ton of sounds, music- exactly like you'd find ring tones in your phone. The range is outstanding really, very impressive. It works throughout the entire house.

This product at the 10 dollar price point is absolutely outstanding. I love it.

So it's not UL listed and the box descriptions are poorly translated from Chinese, examples:

* Computer optional 36 first 24 chords in music, the built in function, stereo speakers, make the sound more crisp, sweet.

* Avoid the use of short service life and easy penetration of ordinary alkaline Zn battery electrolyte

Oh, the part where it shocks you. This only occurs when you pull the doorbell part out and touch the prongs. I took a voltage reading after pulling it out and the prongs hold 120 volts for several seconds after removing the doorbell. It drops to about 50 volts after 30 seconds, and then finally dissipates over a minute or so. Makes me worried about the internal circuitry of this guy.

So, the fact this doorbell comes ready to go without needing batteries gave it a star. The other star came from all the quirky songs:

1. Vibraphone ding dong
2. Westminster vibraphone
3. Fur Elise
4. Fancy theme
5. Ascending Harp arpeggio
6. Buzzy Happy song
7. Piano song I can’t remember the name to
8. Ding dong “Chinese woman says something”
9. Ding dong “WELCOME”
10. Childish song
11. Harmonica western
12. Happy birthday
13. Piano folk song
14. Classical song
15. One horse open sleigh
16. Jingle Bells
17. 4 dings
18. Knocking sound
19. Hungarian song
20. Carousel song
21. Probably a Chinese song
22. My Heart Will Go On
23. Piano Arpeggio, then a song
24. Classical sad song
25. Vibraphone polka happy song
26. Lullaby melody
27. Piano piece
28. Dashing through the snow
29. Santa Clause is coming to town
30. Famous Piano piece I forget the name to
31. Vibraphone diddy
32. Fake birds and piano
33. Samba march?
34. Some ridiculous vibraphone solo
35. Probably in a low budget TV commercial
36. Running out of bad titles for vibraphone songs

This wireless doorbell was easy to assemble and had a variety of different tunes to choose from. After going through the entire selection, I opted for the original tone. The volume options were great as well. You can set the tone to be as loud or quiet as you'd like. I have mine set somewhere in between and find that the sound is loud enough to hear even from upstairs. Everything worked perfectly. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who is looking for a simple doorbell that functions as it should and can be assembled in no more than five minutes.

Doorbell Chime was not loud enough for my townhouse, but worked perfectly for my daughter's new apartment. She was happy to have it. It was beautifully made, sturdy and I felt it could last a long time because it was weatherproof. For someone with a small house or apartment, it may work well. It is quality made, doesn't look cheap, wipes off easily, so when the puppy paws at it or her 6 year old get goop on it she can clean it easily since it plugs in and they both can reach it. Good purchase.

My apartment is in an L shape - door at the top of the L, bathroom at the corner and then living room at the far right bottom so, sound doesn't travel around corners. I could not hear anyone at the door regardless if they used the pre-installed door bell or pounded on it. It all just went right into the bathroom which, is useful if I lived in there.

This little gadget has an adhesive sticker on the back which is pretty strong so, make sure you put it where you want it because it isn't going anywhere! I mention this because my last doorbell was stolen by someone in the building and they'd push it at random times - needless to say, I didn't get a replacement to that little disaster! I have a feeling it was the little ol' lady across the hall from me, she's sneaky like that.

So, anyways! This little guy is super loud with a volume control and a huge selection of ring tones including Christmas Songs. Yeah yeah I know it's May but, I couldn't resist Christmas music as a ring tone.... But wait! It also has volume control - raise it, lower it, raise it, lower it... The possibilities are just ENDLESS! You can even plug it in to a wall outlet on a wall that has an annoying neighbor, raise the volume and wait for the wall pounding to begin! Weeeeee! ~mumble~ battery included.

I love this gadget! I'm getting another one for my mailbox downstairs for my lazy postal carrier who can't walk to the gate to ring me - now all he has to do is push the mysterious button in a mailbox!

I used this as an alarm instead of a door bell. Works great and much cheaper than a bed alarm! A bit loud even with lowest setting, but I fixed that by stuffing speaker with cotton balls. And you don't have to change battery since it's powered by plugging into the wall socket.

This remote bell is a great deal for the price. Pros: Price, styling, color, operating distance, and FITS in a weather proof box sideways and you can still close the door!!, good volume, many sounds to choose from, easy to stick on with included tape. Cons: It comes with a battery but they should have stuck the battery conduction tape (saves the battery life) outside the plastic button unit to pull away as it IS A PAIN to unsnap the box without breaking it. You have to pry open the button unit to pull the conduction tape away or to replace the battery.
