5.0 out of 5 stars Eased My Seat
I had tried several "comfort" seats, some with splits, some with gel and I was still experiencing severe discomfort. The problem was bad enough that I went to my doctor. I was ready to quit riding when I ordered the Easy Seat. I have to admit that it took about 25 miles until I was completely comfortable. I now have well over a thousand miles on it and I couldn't be...

I ordered the Easy Seat and used it for several days. If one is only interested in easing pressure on the nerves and arteries of the perineum, then one can be reasonably satisfied, for the product certainly accomplishes this.

Early on however, it became apparent that if one removes one's hands from the handlebars, especially while peddling, it is nearly impossible to balance the bike. Apparently, one needs to apply subtle pressure through the inner thighs to the horn of the saddle in order to maintain balance. Of course, the Easy Seat has no horn. In addition, no matter how tightly I fastened the thumb screws to separate the pads, they would invariably come together. I am convenced that the osillating motion of the pads as one peddles, and the friction this generates, requires more effort from the rider to propel the bike.

I have retired the Easy Seat and replaced it with a split saddle which seems to solve the perineal pressure problem. What looked good on paper proved a disappointment in practice.

I was ready to quit riding when I ordered the Easy Seat. I have to admit that it took about 25 miles until I was completely comfortable. I now have well over a thousand miles on it and I couldn't be happier. I no longer experience any discomfort. I quickly adjusted to riding with no hands with the Easy Seat. The seat has held up very well.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not All That Easy, July 8, 2006
This review is from: Adjustable pads (Misc.)
After reading glowing reviews of Easyseat I was most anxious to try it. After 50 miles of constant adjustments, I'm ready to give up. I ache in places I didn't ache previously. I'm sore in places that weren't sore before. I average 40-50 miles per week, and the Easyseat is causing that average to drop drastically. I can't suffer more than 8 miles per ride with this mis-named product, and I'm forced to skip every other day because of the soreness. I'm trying to be patient and give the seat every chance to live up to the glowing reviews. My patience is wearing thin.

As the directions state, this seat takes a FULL WEEK to get accustomed to. I HATED this seat for the first week and swore every day I would return it, but the wife kept reminding me it said it takes a week to get used to, so I stuck it out. That was several years ago, and I've put thousands of miles on my bike since then with this seat as my trusted fulltime saddle. I weight 250lbs, ride super hard and fast, and frequently carry a backpack laden with nearly 100lbs of stuff and groceries. The construction flexes a little for comfort, never been a problem. The seat "rubber" shows wear, UV wear, butt wear, finish wear, but lasts and lasts and lasts. At some point something took a bite out of the bottom edge, so the foam rubber is missing, litterally the size of a small bite, and I feared this was the beginning of the end and it would fall apart thereafter. That was at least 2 years ago and NOTHING further ever came of it. I get compliments on it all the time. And my perineum has NEVER been so happy in 30+ years of biking. I can bike 50 miles with nary a complaint at all.

3.0 out of 5 stars Crazy, September 28, 2011

This seat was on a used bicycle I bought. The older fellow I bought it from went on and on and on about how great this seat was. He obviously liked it very well. I thought it was incredibly funny-looking, but since I had it and it was like new, I figured I'd try it. I sat on it. I hated it. I tried it several times more. I still hated it. I tried it again. I hated it worse. It came off and a regular seat went on.

So, what does this prove? It proves some people will like this seat and some won't. It would better to try it out first if you can.

Oh, and it squeaks.

5.0 out of 5 stars I'm sold on it., July 2, 2008

After trying several seats, including the ISM Touring saddle, I have settled on this seat and used it for over a year now. It does take a few rides of getting used to, and it felt like I might slide off the front of the seat initially, but now I'd never go back to a traditional seat. Because there is no forward-facing horn I find that can shift around on the seat a little on long rides to ease any discomfort from sitting in the exact same place for extended periods. I have not experienced any numbness in the perineum since using this seat (this seat does not touch the perineum area).

The delivery of the easy seat was even quicker than anticipated. The item arrived in good condition and well packaged.

I have found the easy seat most comfortable and simple to set up. I would recommend this seat to all who enjoy cycling.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Tailbone - and especially Male - Lifesaver, July 4, 2007

This seat is wonderful! I have used one for five years. I ride regularly in a variety of conditions. I have fairly well developed arthritis, and hip bone spurs - and I would have given up riding a long time ago if it were not for this seat.

I've tried many of the traditional seats, heavily padded seats, and the split back version of the traditional seat. This seat is so much better because of no center obstruction.

It spreads your weight over two cheeks. It does not have that center piece of a regular seat - that inevitably numbs the male genitals no matter how hard you try to avoid it.

It takes a little getting used to, but I find that some avoid it because it just doesn't "look like" a bike seat. For me, functionality and comfort are far more important than looks.

3.0 out of 5 stars One problem solved; another created., August 25, 2011

I should reveal right from the top my EasySeat is an older model, since replaced by one with apparently larger pads and an easier width adjustment. This version of the EasySeat accomplishes what it was made to do. I can now ride the bike without turning my, um ... nuggets ... numb. That's a great improvement. But work needs to be done making those pads more comfortable. I simply can't get a 15 mile ride in without great pain in the buttocks. The sitting angle is also quite unpleasant, forcing the rider the lean hard on the handlebars at all times. The result, of course, is numb wrists. The pads are small, hard, and they don't quite fit my human posterior. I'm thinking another product might be designed better, but I don't have the first hand research to prove it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Renewed interest in my bike, May 11, 2011
This review is from: Adjustable pads (Misc.)
After years of riding (weekend warrior) I had retired my bike in the closet ....because the prolonged pressure on that specific area (for prolonged periods) was beginning to annoy me. I bought this bike seat from a mail order catalog on a whim ... having no high expectations.

The seat exceeded my expectations, and I am riding every weekend again. No padded bicycle shorts or gel seat would accomplish what this seat does. I had tried them before giving up.

No, you won't be able to ride w/no hands as mentioned in a previous review. But you have to prioritize. I'm 47 and my priorties do not include riding w/no hands.

Prolonged pressure on that area can cause low sperm count, erectile dysfunction, discomfort, etc.

So in the grand scheme of things....being able to ride w/no hands seems faaaaaar less "impotent", I mean, important :)
