Remastered Japanese pressing of the 1989 album. This album, their final release, was a collection of both previously released and new material. The disc shows that they truly were one of the first bands to successfully merge progressive rock with a more pop-oriented mode. The Roger Dean cover surely pulled a lot of Yes fans into buying the disc. The music is sort of a more modern rock take on classic prog bands like Yes and Genesis. Contains 11 tracks in total packaged in a paper sleeve. EMI. 2005.

Even if you're really into progressive rock music, It Bites is not a name you hear very often, which is odd considering the band's obvious talent. Yes and Genesis are the obvious points of comparison, at least in identifying the band's influences. Their sound is also similar to the Chris Squire and Billy Sherwood bands World Trade and Conspiracy. Fans of the more modern progressive bands like Spock's Beard and the Flower Kings should find It Bites quite enjoyable as well.

Apparently there are different versions of Eat Me in St. Louis. The UK version is a full-length studio album, but the US version, which I own, is actually made up of tracks from Eat Me in St. Louis and Once Around the World. There is also a fairly pricey import version that has been remastered. If you're looking for a good introduction to It Bites, the US version is probably ideal. If you want the "real" album, you're going to have to seek out one of the import versions.

Post high-school. Early 90's. Roommate mentioned this band cuz she knew one of the bandmembers once upon a time. Bought the CD. Loved it. Lost everything in a storage fire in 2008, including the CD. Fast forward to the present. For some reason, music from the CD was playing in my head. Had to rebuy it. No regrets. Took me on a much needed trip down memory lane.

Any true It Bites fan realizes at an early stage just how elusive this group's material is to obtain.. especially here in the United States. When the band emerged from the latter part of the mid-eighties, they came through with a sound unequivelant to no other. They were definately ahead of thier time as well as in a bad period where promoters were either too lazy, brain dead or scared to do anything positive with them. The band signed with Virgin Records, however, Geffen Records handled the US market for the last two of the band's three studio releases. This shouldn't have been a problem, but other than the artwork.. the Geffen releases were a debacle of what Virgin offered in England. "Once Around The World" was offered to the US audience as a 5 track mini lp, where the Virgin release was a full album with eight tracks.
Be aware that the Geffen release of Eat Me in St Louis is a combination of tracks from Once Around The World and Eat Me in St Louis. Most considered this release to be a greatest hits collection. Though the music is always good, my personal advice would be to purchase the Virgin release of this album.
