Top-notch song writing throughout. Hilarious and heartwrenching. A must have for anyone who has survived the nineties.

Excellent!,

World-class songwriting and spot-on guitar playing make this a no-questions-asked must have record. Like Bruce Springsteen and Patti Smith meeting in a dark alley after one too many brandy alexanders.

Kowtow Popof appears to be lyrically influenced by artists such as Elvis Costello and Graham Parker. His lyrics are sharp, witty and bitter. Songs such as "Watch Out For Your Fellow Man", the musical equivalent of road rage, "Hit Record," a witty look at the music business and "Not Getting Any," a look at aging and not being able to realize the dreams you had when you are younger have a real bitter edge, and fans of those artists are bound to take notice. However, Kowtow Popof has a sensitive side, and his slower tempo songs are probably his strongest work - the guitar playing is subtle and melodic and the lyrics are very well written. My favorites are "Time is Alive" and "At the Bottom of the Sea." "Around It" has a hit song potential, a catchy tune powered by a great hook and a good driving guitar based rhythm. My only criticism is the choice of "Watch Out For Your Fellow Man" which opens the album. This song is rather harsh and doesn't really set the tone for the rest of the album. It would have fit somewhere in the middle. Otherwise, this is a very strong album - not every song is great - but most of it is solid, well-written and deserving of attention.
