Odd but worth it,
By Paulita Burns (St. Louis, MO USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Eat Right For Your Baby : The Individualized Guide to Fertility and Maximum Health During Pregnancy, Nursing, and Your Baby's First Year (Hardcover)
Reading the other reviews, I can hear where other reviewers are coming from. It's true, this way of eating and exercising does not provide a one-size-fits-all approach, and often can seem odd. Dr. D'Adamo's Blood Type diet & exercise recommendations are explained in much more detail in earlier books. In particular, Live Right 4 Your Type would be a great introduction to the theory and science behind the Blood Type Diet (BTD). I see Eat Right 4 Your Baby (ER4YB) as a resource for folks who already have familiarity with the BTD and have found that it makes sense for them. I do wish that ER4YB included information regarding variations for non-secretors. As someone working towards getting healthy now, in anticipation of pregnancy in a few years, this information is very helpful to me, including in terms for maximizing fertility. I have lost 60 pounds in the last year from following these diet & exercise guidlines, and have seen a tremendous improvement in my energy, allergies, asthma, sinuses, and joint stiffness.

At least give it a scan at your local library...,
This review is from: Eat Right For Your Baby : The Individualized Guide to Fertility and Maximum Health During Pregnancy, Nursing, and Your Baby's First Year (Hardcover)
I perused this at my local health food store. If you already eat outside of the typical American diet and aren't opposed to meat/and dairy alternatives, you will find that you won't have to change much. I agree that I am slightly puzzled by a couple of the foods I must avoid, but most of it makes sense...NOT that I am happy about giving up corn and potatos! My parents are both O types,as well and my father and all his relatives have diabetes. Staying away from the wheat will keep me from that pathway, I hope. Do go to your library first and judge for yourself.

Infertility info alone worth the purchase,
By Mummo (Midwest, United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Eat Right For Your Baby: The Individulized Guide to Fertility and Maximum Heatlh During Pregnancy (Paperback)
Before I had read this book or been introduced to the "Right For Your Type" diet concept, I followed something very close to what D'Adamo advocates for my type. After 5 years of infertility, we conceived our baby daughter. Now that I have read the author's other books, I am not surprised to see that his recommendations can help infertile couples conceive and help those with recurring miscarriage.
I understand that carnivorous Type As and vegetarian Type Os will struggle with the diet. My encouragement is to read Live Right For Your Type first so that you actually get the science part of this. Then ask the many infertile women who have conceived after following his diet how "nuts" it is.
