The food described in this book is not high fancy cuisine, but it sure is good and it makes you want to chow down immediately. There are recipes in here from food trucks in North America and the U.K. although most seem to be centered on the west coast - California and Washington State. There is information at the end of the book in alphabetical order by food truck name with web, Facebook and twitter addresses. There really should have been a division by state to make it easier to locate them. An index is included by the main ingredient.

The recipes are divided into; mobile snacks, burgers, dogs, and slices, sandwiches, tacos, wraps and cones, soups, noodles and saucy things, meals and sweets. Most of the recipes have large colour photos. Many are time consuming to make because of special sauces and mayonnaises, prep time - chopping and such, but not that difficult to make otherwise.

There are many good, interesting and varied recipes in here. The ones our family has enjoyed are examples of the variety: Saigon shrimp ceviche, bourbon-mango pulled pork sandwich, sockeye salmon with succotash, S.M.O.G. pie (steak, mushroom, onion and gruyere), and maple bacon cupcakes.

If you want some different recipes or you are a fan of food trucks this book is for you. You might even find your favorite in here. We were elated to find S.M.O. G. pie.

I kind of ordered this book by mistake but i'm so glad I did. It was the best surprise I can remember for a long long time. This book is full of melty, creamy, disgusting goodness that you would expect from a food truck. All of the recipes are innovative and really amazing updates to some of your fav classics. This book is so necessary... Let me just say that my future kids are going to have the most awesome lunches EVER!!!

First, let me say I don't dare buy this book (I have it home from the library to review) , because the recipes and photos are so enticing, AND so unhealthy, that partaking of very many of them, I would find it almost impossible not to change my diet significantly in a steep downward slide. Thus the 4 stars. And I have to say I haven't tried out any of the recipes, but am an experienced enough cook with very good sensory imagination, that it is not at all difficult to practically taste the final products just from looking at the photos and reading the recipes.

What I want to focus on is the amazing quality of the writing. This has to be possibly the best-written cookbook I have ever experienced (and I own a lot of cookbooks, and have reviewed many, many more). Although for my older eyes, the red type for the ingredients lists is hard to read, and the black type face for the directions is a bit small, this is still very usable--just get a strong light on your page before you cook. But once you get into the recipes, you will love cooking from them. You have metric quantities in grams and mls, plus by volume. The directions are very clear, straight-forward, and very concise. With most cookbooks, if I were writing them, I would cut out about a third of the unnecessary verbiage. I just want to get down to the basics of what I need to know, so I have a clear conception of the whole process, and especially so I can remember it easily. There is nothing to cut out here. Most recipes are only one page long. You can 'get it' with one read-through, most of the time. And when you get to the end of reading the entire recipe, you say, 'I can make that--I want to make it right now.

which tells you all about this book. It should be X rated as it is definitely porn for people who, like me, try to eat healthy but once in a while succumb to stuff that is so good and so bad for you! What fun! That's all I can say as I'm almost out of exclamation points.
