This book is a MUST READ! I bought it the other day at the Family Christian Store and I have been unable to put it down since. There are so many great references as to why we should eat certain foods to live a healthy lifestyle. Dr. Colbert describes two types of foods- "The Living and the Dead foods". This really opened my eyes about many things. First God put everything here on this earth for us to enjoy. America has gotten so out of hand with eating JUNK that we really do need to get back to basics. This book was great in describing what foods have what nutrients and vitamins. Since reading it I have thrown away my Splenda packets that I put in my coffee every morning, my fat free whip cream because of the unhealthy oils, and I'm refusing to let my kids eat that junk as well. We have never been fast food junkies but we do have the occasional chickfila sandwich. I LOVE healthy foods and I have always been interested in eating healthy. I exercise and do the right things yet this book still had more to offer and taught me that much more about my health. It really was an inspiration and motivation to continue on with the things I know I should do. People don't understand fully that eating right isn't a "diet" it's a way of life. Are bodies weren't intended to have crap put in them. I keep my pantry stocked with healthy snacks (almonds, whole grains) and when you eat healthy you just feel better all over in every aspect of your life. Eat to live don't live to eat!

I enjoyed holding this book in my hand. It's the perfect size (could fit in my purse), it's printed on extra thick paper (didn't get dog-eared in said purse), and it has tons of colorful graphics, photo's, charts, facts, tips, etc. It's one of those books you can pull out of your purse and read in snatches (like while waiting for the kids to come to the car after school). Apart from its great look and feel, Eat This and Live! is a wealth of important information about our everyday food choices. But be warned; Dr. Colbert does set the bar (sometimes ridiculously) high when he writes of good and bad foods. Yet, if you love facts on health and nutrition, and you're striving to eat a more healthful diet in 2009, then this book is definitely for you!

A good common sense book on how to eat right and live longer. Very easy to read and understand. Dr. Colbert drives home the point that if we don't follow his advise we are on the path to a life of illness and an early death. This book specifically tells us the results (both good and bad) of eating various foods. Excellent source of information on eating out and the damage that eating fast food is doing to our health. I am buying several additional copies to pass around to those I care about.

Don Colbert, MD, New York Times best selling author of "The Seven Pillars of Health." specializes in anti-aging medicine, nutritional, and preventative medicine. In his new book "Eat This and Live!" Dr. Colbert motivates and guides the reader with tips on how to make simple food choices that will enable them to feel better, look betters, and live longer.

Mouth watering color pictures of tempting and tantalizing foods, good and bad choices, from every food group entice the reader to engage in and adapt the sound advice offered by Dr. Colbert in this fascinating guidebook. Dr. Colbert presents key principles for making better choices in menu planning at home at on when dining at your favorite restaurant. He includes helpful suggestions, charts, and nutritional information, which include: foods to avoid, shopping tips, and better ways to prepare, serve and store food. He also includes tempting tips for healthier kids.

The comprehensive table of contents makes the book user friendly as the reader can quickly find areas of special interest, concern, and application. I found the chapter on antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals of especial value as I am trying to monitor these in light of prescription medications my doctor has suggested.

"Eat This and Live" is written with a spiritual perspective with an emphasis on recognizing the mind-body-spirit connection. Colbert's prayer for the reader is that they will develop the determination and willpower to follow through in forming the eating strategies included in the book. And, that they will take care of their body, God's temple, while living a full and abundant life.

Highly motivating, inspirational, and packed with valuable information for making better choices in your eating strategy. Superb!

Fork over Knives, Eat to Live, they all speak to eating healthy to survive and that most of what ales us is about what we eat. Which is very true, our diets need to swing towards the vegan side as much as possible but not be completely there, if that makes sense. The nice thing about Dr Colbert's work is that he tries to make the information appealing to read by providing nice pictures and a bit of a sense of humor. I also like that he shows a practical side to his eating suggestions by saying that we can't do it perfectly but the more we try the more succeed. And then he talks about how to eat healthy out, which is by far the biggest challenge in America right now. I think it is a good read for anyone looking to change their diet and are looking for the right place to start, this book does a great job of being an introduction to healthier eating.

I read the book and was amazed at the results. In just about 7 days since I read the book I can feel my energy levels increasing from an average of 4-5 a day to 6-8 a day. I sleep better and by making a few changes that Dr. Colbert recommends I am already on the road to eat this and LIVE. Thanks Dr. Colbert.

This book is great! The size is perfect. It is colorful, the layout is great, and the information is very useful. I am taking it with me to the market from now on. Worth every penny. Thank you, Dr. Colbert! By the way, the Stress Less book by Dr. Colbert is awesome. I read it cover to cover and actually realized how harmful stress is. God Bless you, Dr Colbert for writing these books! Thank you.

Dr. Colbert is an excellent person to consult on food for your life. It doesn't matter if you have cancer or diabetes, he can help you work through the good eating habits. And to top it off it is not hard to do. But like anything, you have to work at it. Excellent book, easy to read and understand. Highly recommend it.

I have been known as a person that is very health contious. I really thought I had a wealth of knowledge on fitness and food, until I read this book. Dr. Colbert has changed my family and I for life. So many foods that I thought was very healthy are super processed and eat away at our life span. With the new knowledge of so many foods and how they affect my body, there are very few things I get from vending machines or fast food restaurants. I have an aunt who was diagnosed with many cists. She took the medicine the doctor prescribed and it just kept them from growing larger. She began a raw foods diet, taking the advice of Dr. Colbert on its benefits, Now she is cist and medicine free. Her doctors were amazed at the results. Thanks you Dr. Colbert for helping my family and I to live healthier and longer lives. I wish that everyone in the world could read this book. This is truly a book on how to eat to live.

I could not put this book down.
My 3 kids in their 20's and 30's said they could not put it down either.
Totally fun and entertaining to read.
Real and practical.
Loved the fact he gave choices and alternatives and brought in
what the diseases were you could get or prevent.

The illustrations were fabulous.
EVERYONE age 10 to 100 should read this book! Life changing.
