A very common sense approach to losing weight without going hungry. The information is easy to follow and works. I highly recommend this book.

no need for other diet books,
By A Customer
This review is from: Eat Well, Live Well (Hardcover)
This book steers clear of the high protein, no carb-Atkins-style program. After having tried that and lots of other diets I've come full circle to the low-fat, balanced diet. What helped me to start eating five small meals a day rather than the 3 big ones was her analogy of our metabolisms to feeding kindling to a fire every now and then rather than dumping a large log onto the fire which would smother it and keep it from using the log (or food) efficiently. When we eat portions that are too large our bodies store the excess it can't readily use. Her recommeded diet takes the weight off fast but it's very portion restricted, albeit balanced. The recipes were just ok. I liked to book more for its food combining instruction, meal plan and snack ideas, and eating philosophy than the recipes. Many dieters feel they already know what to eat and not to eat--it's just doing it. But this book helps to gear your mind up for doing it by providing good facts about why eating smaller portions throughout the day and the need to eat proteins with carbs is important. I liked it better than Marilu Henner's new book b/c of the diet plan offered in the book and the specificity about exactly what to eat.
