Great for Homeschoolers!

We used this cookbook in our homeschool co-op and the kids just loved it. My friend and I created a curriculum revolving around the book, and the kids learned so much about geography, culture and cuisine. Each child and we two teachers purchased 18 cookbooks for the class, and we tried various recipes from the book. It was a blast!
Lots of positives: interesting facts in the cookbook regarding food and customs, an excellent variety of countries and recipes represented, and it was easy to add our own geography and culture facts to make an interesting 13-week course.
One glaring negative, however: pan size, dish size and serving size are never mentioned, so you have to guess how much you're making. You have to adjust your cooking times based on the pan size you choose. That made it tricky, especially cooking for 18 people. You have to be very careful when cooking the recipes as written. This book was obviously written by someone who has not penned a seriously edited a cookbook before. For instance, one recipe tells you to add ground beef, but it doesn't tell you whether to brown it or not, which is a cookbook basic as it should say "browned ground beef" or "raw ground beef." I believe if they were to write a new edition of this book they should hire a cookbook writer to help clean up the recipes and clear up the confusion.
I would recommend this book for EVERY family, not just homeschoolers. What fun to tackle a new country every week and make dinner using the customs and recipes from that region!
