We used this cookbook in our homeschool co-op and the kids just loved it. My friend and I created a curriculum revolving around the book, and the kids learned so much about geography, culture and cuisine. Each child and we two teachers purchased 18 cookbooks for the class, and we tried various recipes from the book. It was a blast!

Lots of positives: interesting facts in the cookbook regarding food and customs, an excellent variety of countries and recipes represented, and it was easy to add our own geography and culture facts to make an interesting 13-week course.

One glaring negative, however: pan size, dish size and serving size are never mentioned, so you have to guess how much you're making. You have to adjust your cooking times based on the pan size you choose. That made it tricky, especially cooking for 18 people. You have to be very careful when cooking the recipes as written. This book was obviously written by someone who has not penned a seriously edited a cookbook before. For instance, one recipe tells you to add ground beef, but it doesn't tell you whether to brown it or not, which is a cookbook basic as it should say "browned ground beef" or "raw ground beef." I believe if they were to write a new edition of this book they should hire a cookbook writer to help clean up the recipes and clear up the confusion.

I would recommend this book for EVERY family, not just homeschoolers. What fun to tackle a new country every week and make dinner using the customs and recipes from that region!

"Eat Your Way Around the World" is a cookbook which is designed to be a companion to the world geography unit study "Galloping the Globe." "Eat Your Way Around the World" is a cookbook covering the seven contients and countries within those continents. The recipes represent those which are historically the most popular for the country. The author has adapted the recipes to make them as simple as possible; to make them with ingrediants which are easily obtainable at your local supermarket. In the books introduction the author includes information about how to use the book, background information on the recipes, and dinner/food activities. Each country contains information about the country, three recipes, a food profile, culture ala carte, and a space to make notes. The appendix contains a reproducible page so your child can make a food journal, a culinary passport, and internet links. Our family has been very happy with the cookbook and I know we will continue to use it even after we have finished our trip around the world in 36 weeks.

This cookbook is great for teaching children geography. It has short stories and facts about each country and about the dishes. The kids cook and learn at the same time. Highly recommended.

Wish it had chapters of recipes for different areas. I suppose it's asking a lot, but I just wanted more offerings with different skill levels. Otherwise a good book for aspiring young chefs.

this is a super fun addition to our world history class. So much fun to add something different to bring a better picture of the country we are studying to the kids.

not impressed. Very low level and just not what we expected from the publisher. I was so looking forward to it and so disappointed

I use it kindergarden. We study different counties and we make food that goes with the country. It's fun and the kids really enjoy it.
