This review is from: Eaten Alive at a Chainsaw Massacre: The Films of Tobe Hooper (Hardcover)
I'm aware that the films of Tobe Hooper have been lackluster of late, but if you purchase this book you'll find out why. This is not only the best book about director Hooper, but a great book, period. The structure is very coherent, all valid points are made, and even though the author attempts to defend Hooper at times (which is fine with me), he's honest enough to admit when a film totally bombs out, i.e. "The Mangler". All in all, if you like Tobe Hooper, BUY this book. If you're a fan of the original "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre", "Salem's Lot" and/or "Poltergeist", BUY this book. You will not be disappointed.
