4.0 out of 5 stars Call Any Vegetable!, November 28, 2003
This review is from: Eating the Astoria (Audio CD)
Despite Gail Zappa's attempts to squash the group, some of Frank's best musicians (Bunk Gardner, Don Preston, Jimmy Carl Black & the Fowler brothers) have maintained a low-key existence as the Grandmothers since the late 1970s. Playing a rich combination of originals and suitably spiced-up Zappa compositions, they fill the void for a touring version of the Mothers playing mostly-instrumental versions of the devastating jazz-rock they were known for.

Fans will not be disappointed.
