5 stars for the Author Ragnar Benson. I regularly recommend any of his books. This book rates only 4 stars for its topic, but this is still a must read. I enjoyed it. Another valuable tool to survival. Nothing more enlightening to the effect of philosophies of eating than comparing China and India. With sound philosophy the book demonstrates how a society can starve or prosper. In the continueing chapters Ragnar shows you the practical aspects of eating for free, or for a whole lot less. He provides many specific useful examples as well as a lot of general ideas.I personally would like to free up some of the grocer cash for other endeavors. Eating and staying alive is serious business. If nothing else buy the book for its included recipes. I look forward to to trying many of them but nothing makes me laugh like contemplating a plate of Cat Caccitore. Bon appetite.[may you not be]"lazy dumb, or both"-Benson

Alot of good advice in this book, think of it as training for future life in this country. As with all of his books, lights a fire in your shorts to get out there and buy the things that count while you still can. Very nice to read something from a person who practices what they put to paper. Food prices going up as the country still slips. More then happy to have this books. I recommend Survival Poaching & Ragnar's Ten Best Traps: And A Few Others That Are Damn Good Too. I own those books also, they make a good "set". This book will help you if your into survival.
