Two seasoned clinicians with years of experience in the treatment of eating disorders offer this practical tool and adjunct to one-on-one and group therapy. In a readable style, the authors take the reader on a journey toward better mental and physical health, as well as provide an important understanding of eating disorders.

This Workbook encourages self-paced learning and practice. The authors guide the reader through a greater consideration of body image, compulsive exercising, and personal and societal relationships. The Workbook also explores complicated issues having a direct effect on the eating disorder, including trauma, depression, abuse, and the media.

3.0 out of 5 stars a good try, October 25, 2005
This review is from: Eating Disorders: The Journey to Recovery Workbook (Paperback)
this is a great workbook for people who have the time for a lot of writing and reflection -- and willpower to stay on track. an avid reader and searcher for all things pertaining to the treatment of eating disorders, i did not find this book to be much help above and beyond what you normally read in all the other "self help" books. Basically, it summarizes the other books and puts it into question/answer form. it also does not go into each area deeply enough to provide what i would consider lasting effects of treatment from the reflection. a good therapist and support group and/or network of support will do better than this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful!, April 15, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Eating Disorders: The Journey to Recovery Workbook (Paperback)
As a therapist who works exclusively with eating disorders, I find myself using this workbook again and again with my clients. It is creative, compassionate, honest and thorough. Jam-packed with information and suggestions, clients can work through exercises at their own pace. Thus far each client who has used the workbook has benefited. They often cite the contributions from recovered people as providing them with hope when they are most lacking it. Whether you are working on recovery yourself or a clinician working with people with eating disorders, this book is a "must have." Very well done!

5.0 out of 5 stars Eating Disorders-The Journey to Recovery Workbook, November 17, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Eating Disorders: The Journey to Recovery Workbook (Paperback)
As a therapist in the field of eating disorders, and as a recovered person, I applaud the authors' ability to develop such a sensitively written workbook for people struggling to recover from eating disorders. It is clear that the authors' years of experience in the field helped them to develop a workbook that takes into consideration the complicated issues inherent in the eating disorders field. In particular, I loved the stories about people in recovery. They were truly inspirational. I was also impressed with the diversity of topics covered in the book. Substance abuse and men's issues are often ignored topics in the field. Several of my clients have used the workbook and all of their responses were positive. One of my clients said she loved the way in which the workbook combined the worksheets with more expressive ways of communicating. Bravo-it is a wonderful additional to the field of eating disorders!
