It's nice to see a diet book that doesn't talk from authority but instead from ones point of view. The author has clearly tried a lot of diets in the past. She recognizes the yo-yo diet effect and has been a victim to it in the past, like so many people.

I actually have a degree in sports science and am a qualified personal trainer (which is why I was interested to pick this book up), so I know that none of the advice in this book is harmful in any way. On the contrary, the advice contained within is sound and healthy advice that will do you the world of good, not to mention help you lose weight (fat weight too) in a healthy way.

Unfortunately, if you're not a great chef, or if you're pressed for time it's just too easy to eat garbage all the time. One really needs to make an effort by cooking quality and nutritious meals. This book gives plenty of great ideas as well as motivation for doing just this.

The book contains lots of ideas for healthy and nutritious food as well as a calorie count by each, very helpful!

There was also a great tip in there for tracking the calories you're taking in! I won't spoil it for you but it was very clever. Recommended!

I have enjoyed the other books in this series and have been looking forward to learning more about the eating strategy portion of the series. As with the other books there is a real common sense and practical approach to the subject, in this case creating an eating plan that you can live with, and that focuses on healthy eating while you lose weight, and not just weight loss at any cost.

The book is mainly focused on calorie counting which seems to be the most practical style of eating plan as you can indulge yourself every once in a while as long as you stay within your calorie allowance. Personally I prefer this approach to eating and weight loss to all of the other restrictive "popular" diets that are around these days.

Throughout the book what kept coming to mind was how realistic this plan was. The example meal plan was made up of basic food nothing fancy or costly, no super diet foods or supplements. Just basic food organised in such a way that you could eat well, occasionally having your treat foods, while at the same time staying under you calorie count and maintaining your weight loss.

There are chapters on calorie cycling, how to eat your favourite treat foods and still stay on course as well as a holidays and special events section where you learn how to plan around these special occasions and not fall off the wagon.

Finally there is a great resource and app section providing a great selection of programs, books, websites and apps to help you track your calories and generally stay on track.

"Eating For Weight Loss" is both informative and inspiring as the author recounts various stories about her journey to lose 100 pounds. There is a lot in this book that anyone who is struggling to lose weight will relate to and get benefit from.

Weight loss isn't rocket science. But when you are overweight finding a weight loss plan that works for you in the life that you live every day is not easy. I had already read one of Paula's other books when I saw she had this one on the market and I am so glad I picked it up. This book offers some great practical ideas on how to implement a calorie controlled weight loss program while still enjoying your favorite foods. After-all it is those favorite foods of ours that seem to break our will power every time. The advice in this book on that topic alone is priceless.

Another idea I liked in this book was the idea of how to get over that weight loss plateau that many of us serious dieters seem to go through. I am not going to divulge that information here, but I found it was a really good idea and one that was easy to put into place. If you get stuck for food ideas then you will love the meal and snack suggestions included in this book. My personal favorite was being able to make an ice-cream flot with low fat ice cream and diet root beer - yummy and totally allowable because there are so few calories in that combination.

This book is not about giving up foods you love and turning into a rabbit. It is about putting in place a plan that does work while still allowing you the freedom to chose to eat some fast foods or other favorites once in a while. It works for me :) Highly recommended.

This book is ideal if you want to kick start your diet but lack the confidence to begin. Whilst the counting calorie advice is not new, it does explain it in such a way that the idea is not too daunting. There are meal ideas included, hints for when your weight plateaus and advice on how to track your progress.

If you aren't sure how to start your diet or are afraid that you will never be able to enjoy sweets, cakes or hamburgers again (which I was for sooooooooooo long), then this is the book for you.

This book is very readable, practical, and sound. I recommend getting the one book that includes all 6 books she wrote in one, instead of getting each one individually.

I love the books in this series, and this one is no exception. Again, the focus is on health and long-term goals and I cannot stress enough how important this is when it comes to being successful at losing weight. Things that I liked:

- The importance of tracking calories, on a daily and weekly basis and how to do that effectively. Long term plan that is realistic, sensible, doable and effective. Small steps that will ultimately lead to the desired goal.

- Focus on following a balanced diet that is healthy and not too restrictive. Importance of fruit and vegs and portion sizes.

- No fad diets (NEVER starve yourself or skip meals). The importance of getting rid of the all-or-nothing mentality, which is very destructive. There needs to be room for special treats and enough flexibility to allow for lazy / bad days.

- What to do when you seem to reach a plateau and can't seem to be able to lose any more weight.

- The importance of exercise and how to combine this with a flexible diet that allows for special treats and the foods that you love.

I totally recommend this book to anybody who is serious about getting healthier and losing weight without yo-yo dieting. It's never about how quickly you can lose weight but about being smart and keeping focused. It's about creating a clever plan that is effective, about having short and long term goals that are sensible and doable. Be smart and get this book now; you won't regret it.

Excellent balanced approach to weight loss and the author did a great job of making it clear that there is more than one approach to dropping extra pounds.

The book touches on all aspects of why we often don't succeed at losing weight. There are even recommendations to "give yourself a break" and practical ways to survive those calorie-filled holidays.

I especially appreciated the fact that there is a very helpful resources section that provides links to many different weightloss websites and systems. I'll be re-visiting this book often as I work on shaking that extra 40 pounds that I need to lose! Highly recommended!

This is by not a conventionnal diet book...not a recipe for success nor any recipes for success. Just the down to earth real life experience of someone who succeeded in loosing weight by making a plan and following it.

I was not impressed with this book. It did not have any new information to report. It was simply okay.
