5.0 out of 5 stars The Lure of Bolt Crank, November 19, 2001
By
Okay, to be honest, a guy who eats nuts and (ahem!) bolts sounded goofy to me at first as well. But this is the video that changed that all for me. In the first story, Eat-man tackles a pretty heavy topic: religious fanatacism. In a religion that preaches that salvation comes only through metamorphosis, which is achieved only through death, one man takes it upon himself to be mankind's saviour. Meanwhile a nun named Cyril Dew has to come to terms with the existence of Bolt Crank, a man who has the ability to change, thus plunging her beliefs and convictions into a downwards spiral.
The second tale takes place in the militaristic nation of Zagard. A squad leader, Tatianna Kouzirev, has been convicted of treason and sentenced to death, but she will not deny the charges. Bolt is hired to find the truth. But even in a place where treason means death for your whole family, is the 'truth' really in everyone's best intrest?
Great scene music and wonderfully relaxed pacing allows you to sit back and fully enjoy these beautifully rendered stories. Plus, the series intro theme, 'Chiisana Koino Melody' has a great beat. Don't worry Bolt, Cyril's God may not like you, but we sure do.
