Great Tool! I Love mine.
It works Great with 1/4" hex bits of all kinds. I was even able to use hex shank drill bits. The old Yankee dosn't even come close to the uses of this tool. I have even used a wire end brush to clean rusted and greasy engine parts.

Excellent Tool,

Tool feels solid in my hand. I was able to attach hex bits from a inexpensive big box store-sold kit.
This is an excellent alternative to cordless drills/power screwdrivers. It offers more control, is more compact and quieter. And of course, no batteries required. For most tasks, it's an excellent back up for the light duty power drill/screwdriver.

This is an marginally acceptable substitute for the more expensive push drill/screwdrivers. It is well designed but poorly executed. The one I bought had a misaligned socket for the inserts resulting in the drill and screwdriver bits wobbling as they rotate. Its main advantage is that it accomodates a wider range of bits than the more expensive models. It is too bad a quality manufacturer does not undertake to produce a product like this that would use a wide range of driver and drill bits.

Would be useful if the bits didn't fall out,

I bought this thinking it would be a modern-day replacement for the venerable Stanley version of the Yankee Push Drill. Sadly, it's not; the magnet is too weak -- and the fit is too sloppy -- to hold the bits firmly.
I'll check out flea markets to try and find the real thing.

Don't get me wrong, it works. Problem is the off on the control = on and vice versa. Unit got stuck a lot before it "broke in". I purchased it to drive screws into soft wood. I'd say it was good for that. I did find one more use. It works well for sheet metal screws. I used it to assemble a lightweight screen door and it did well driving the screws - brute force. More of a back-in-time novelty. You'd be better off buying a new set of bits for your cordless drill.

A sad substitute for the good old Yankee Push Drill,

This tool is acceptable for small light-duty jobs, but has some disappointing features: >The bits are not stored in the handle. >The bits are a uncommon 1/4" hex shank bits, which are not locally avaiable. >Worst, the drill bits are NOT included; you must buy them as accessories. I thought that something called a "screwdriver/drill with insert bits" would include both screwdriver bits and drill bits, but no. I wish I'd never given up my old Yankee push drill.

Push/Pull Broke,

I had one of these tools and loved it until it came apart. It worked smoothly, was versatile and effectively. One day during use the nut (double nut, I think) holding everything together came loose and nothing worked anymore. The connection is inside the handle. I took it all apart and tried to fix it. In the end I realized I did not have a small steel ball to complete the assembly. Days later I found it and will try again. It is very tricky to reassemble.
I do not know if I got a fluke or if the failure is indicative of sloppy manufacturing. I wish I could talk to the company and solve the problem. It SHOULD be a great tool.

I purchased this for use as a Yankee type drill. It had screwdriver and hex bits, but no drill bits. Returned it for credit but lost shipping charges. I do not think the product description was accurate. If it is called a drill it should work as a drill.
