this album is money, and for that matter this whole eccentric soul series is money. i got two of these discs so far, the other being the deep soul label (also terrific). singer neko case highly recommended the big mack label in a recent ny times article. i'm definitely getting the rest of the series asap. as for the bandit label... the opening track, 'one more time around' is butter...there's some 7 year old kid, i think i remember reading that he was 7, but he's something special. basically, there isn't a bad track and if you enjoy old soul music, that really rich, gritty soul -- these discs are 100% for you. bravo and kudos to the numero group label for getting these out!
