5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful jewel June 21, 2000
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
I agree with the Spanish gentleman from Chicago- I could not say it better- this album is fantastic! It makes the fusion of styles he mentions seem natural and easy. When I listen to this album it takes me back to the streets of Sevilla. My taste in spanish music is varied- from Flamenco, to Serrat, to La Oreja de Van Gogh- however, this is the only album I feel compelled to recommend. I guarentee, after a few listens you will be hooked on EVERY song.

5.0 out of 5 stars No puede faltar en tu colección! October 5, 1999

Format:Audio CD

5.0 out of 5 stars Puere Gipsy Blues September 25, 2009
Format:Audio CD
This album is truly remarkable. Kiko Veneno joint in his music multiple influences and at the same time is very different to anything published before. If the old bluesmen were born in the south of Spain his music would be very similar to Kiko's music. Even the sad songs have a touch of magic and funny in his amazing lirycs.

This is the original LP published in 1992, most of the songs from this album were included in a new album -Puro Veneno- recorded in 1998 in studio sessions but with live takes. Puro Veneno is a more mature work with a more "gipsy blues" orientation as Kiko perform them in the live gigs. A lot of Kiko's friends collaborated in that album that includes also some songs that Kiko wrote for other artist like Camarón de la Isla but never recorded before in a Kiko's album. Some of the guest were Santiago Auserón (Radio Futura), Albert Pla, Andrés Calamaro (Los Rodriguez) and his old mate and fantastic gipsy guitar player Raimundo Amador.

Echate un Cantecito is harder to find that Puro Veneno, both are remarkable albums but my advice to have a better perspective of Kiko's career is to go for Puro Veneno. You will enjoy this album even if you don't understand spanish but to understand these amazing and funny lirycs is always a must.
