What's not to love? I'm an Audio Engineer, I work with equipment like this for a living, but when it came time to buy something for myself, I didn't have thousands of dollars to spend on an audio interface. There is no other interface in this price range that will provide this level of quality and reliability. Echo drivers are always good for Mac and PC, there's no noise, the preamps are very linear, and the AudioFire control console (software) allows for very flexible setup. There are some people who say that the headphone output isn't loud enough, but I use DT770 Pro headphones (high resistance) and it's more than loud enough. The construction is great, this unit will stand up to anything short of outright abuse. I've recommended this unit or one of it's larger or smaller siblings many times to my friends, and I've never had anyone come back to me and tell me they've regretted the purchase.

I have listened to and owned several m-audio interfaces, a delta1010lt and the very basic usb interface they offer. Both of them constantly had issues with digital and analog noise coming through the outputs. This echo interface is absolutely amazing, there's just a solid analog white noise which I would expect of any interface once the output is cranked up.As an electrical engineer myself my applause goes to the echo engineers who devised this amazing little box. It sounds fantastic and I love the linux support echo has given!

I bought this to replace my Echo Gina 24/96 PCI as I needed to use Firewire. I am absolutely thrilled with the quality and control I get bringing the analog signal into my computer. No complaints about the build of the unit... I noted that someone complained about the 'plastic' face but it's not an issue as the plastic face is both beautiful and likely has equal or better strength as the metal... XLR inputs are a nice addition from the old Gina breakout box. I use this primarily for digitizing vinyl and occasional multitrack music recording.

As simple as plug and play. After plugging in the AudioFire4 I selected its outputs and all but one of my audio programs works with this interface. I bought it to use with Tractor Pro and it made a real difference in audio quality when plugged into a Pro audio system. The Speaker out of the Mackbook just would not dive a pro audio system and this interface does a great job. Run with the software mixer and use the second stereo out for cueing on my headphones. It works like I wanted. A club owner made a comment about how the AudioFire4 had a more controled bottom end, and on some dance tracks it really gives the dance stacks a full workout. |
