4.0 out of 5 stars Check out the Japanese edition, July 3, 2003

Echo Park is FEEDER's Third album.
There are a lot of cool guitar tracks on this album.
For example:

Standing on the Edge
Buck Rogers
Seven Days in the Sun
Choke
Tell All Your Friends
Under the Weather
Bug
This music includes very cool guitar sounds, which are very rhythmical.
I had a friendly feeling toward this music because I like rhythmical music.
If you like rhythmical music, maybe you can enjoy this music.

However, this album includes not only rhythmical rock music, but also
some beautiful ballads.
For example:
Piece by Piece
We Can't Rewind
Turn
Oxygen
These tracks are beautiful ballads.

I think that the balance of the music is good.
Not only rockc Not only balladc

Especially, this album includes Buck Rogers. It is a popular song in England.
Check it out.

By the way, buying Gran Turismo3 (TV game) gave me a chance to know this group.

I bought the Japanese edition of gEcho Parkh, This edition includes 4 extra tracks (gJust a dayh, gpurpleh, gheadsh, g21st century meltdownh but it does NOT include gSatellite Newsh)...

SATELLITE NEWS.

to tell you the truth, this really isn't a very good album. compared to the WONDERFUL "yesterday went too soon", this album seems horrible. however, this is one of the most important albums that i own, for one reason: satellite news. i was tempted to rate the album a 5 just because of this song, but i decided not to, because the album as a whole really doesn't deserve such a rating.

this song hits me so hard, though. it's one of my favorite songs of all time (and i've heard numerous numerous numerous songs). it just takes me. all of my favorite songs take me. and usually because they're so sad. songs that hit me emotionally. my two favorite songs ever are the only two songs that have ever made me cry. but this song is different than any of my other favorite songs. this song takes me in a good way. a positive way.

it starts off with that beautiful music. so lovely. and so mellow, and depressing.

and then..

you will never keep me down!

you can never keep me down!

i want to lift my self up to the sky!

serenade the stars as I pass by

wanna leave it all just for a while

i'll be satellite news

i wanna lift myself above the clouds

cut the ropes around me!

you'll see me shine!

shine like the sun!!

!

wow!

when it changes into "you will never keep me down!", it just hits me so hard, and then it goes even further into a musical orgasm of emotions, while the ropes around me have been cut, and i'm soaring into the sky.. flying.. free.. and shining!

i'd love to tell the singer how much this song means to me. i wonder if he even knows how great this song is.

ok, now that i've discussed that song, onto the other songs.

imo, oxygen is the only other song on the album that's really good. all of the other songs are good, though, with a few which are rather weak, like "choke" and "under the weather", and some lame lyrics every now and then.

First of all, I'm not a super major Feeder fan. I've only heard "Polythene" and "Yesterday Went Too Soon" and liked Yesterday better. That being said, "Echo Park" is the best of those three.

This album is solid from beginning to end. I had a hard time picking a favorite tune. In fact, it was one of the best albums I've heard since Embrace's "Out of Nothing." It's one of those just-push-play kind of albums. The content and form of each song is fitting: the rockers kick, and the ballads were true to themselves, not wimpy or contrived.

Check out: Satellite News, Piece by Piece, Turn, Seven Days..., and Under the Weather for a good sampling. Buy this and let your friends borrow it.

5.0 out of 5 stars The most amazing album ever!, April 6, 2004
By
This review is from: Echo Park (Audio CD)
This is the most fantastic album i have ever heard. i don't think I truely appreciated music until I first heard Feeder! They really are amazing and this album completely showcases them. Every song is great in its own way and it's so difficult to chose a favourite because of this. There are 'happy' songs like Buck Rodgers and Seven Days in the Sun which make you want to leap around playing air guitar and more mellow ones like Turn and Oxygen that are great at making you reflect on life. if you don't listen to it you are really missing out!

5.0 out of 5 stars Feeder Come Alive, September 27, 2003

A brilliant album from one of the best British rock (indie rock) bands. This album has everything a great album should have and more, it is truly a masterpiece. The song Buck Rogers was absolutely huge in the UK and really helped to promote and sell the album, fortunately that was the only single to be hugely overplayed. Every song is absolutely superb, especially We can't rewind and Turn, which in my opinion are two of the best Feeder songs. Anyone's music collection that doesn't contain this cd is incomplete. Feeder ROCK!! especially echo park!

4.0 out of 5 stars Music to be blasted loudly!, May 26, 2003
This review is from: Echo Park (Audio CD)
Prior to releasing three previous albums which, to be honest, have not done an awful lot for Feeder (despite being wicked cd's), this is finally the work which will guarantee them mainstream mtv success and sales with future records.
This is a wicked cd. I have found that there is a song on here to suit my every mood. Sure, there are elements of Coldplay here, but remember, Feeder were there first! 'Buck Rodgers' is one of the most infectious records I have ever heard. As soon as the bass line hits in it has you hooked. Generally, this is a very positive, reassuring cd. The lyrics of songs such as 'We Can't Rewind' and 'Seven Days in The Sun' are guaranteed to put a smile on your face, and of course, the chorus to Buck Rodgers - "I think we're gonna make it, I think we're gonna save it".
From a female perspective, it helps that Grant and Jon are drop dead gorgeous (buy it just for their pictures on the inlay cards), but this is a great reflection of Feeders past career peaking, demonstrating how their skills have matured over time to produce such a magnificent album. It truly is a piece to be proud of. There are no wicked guitar solos or notable rock'n'roll moments that are going to go down in history, but tak it on face value and don't compare their skills to other musicians and you will find a goldmine hidden within this cd.
Like this? Check out Coldplay, Radiohead, Muse and Delirious?. Buy it. You won't regret it :)

5.0 out of 5 stars My first & Favourite Album eva!, November 27, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Echo Park (Audio CD)
This is a totally unbeatable album and if people dont like this then they have something wrong with them! Anyway this is the review for all the songs.

Standing on the edge - I liked this song more at first but now i realise why some people say this is weak. Still OK though! 7/10

Buck Rogers - I've loved this song from the day it came out and never got tired of it! Great chorus 10/10

Piece by Piece - Nice mellow song and cant think of much else to say! 8/10

Seven days for the sun - 2nd release from the album and i love it. Very fast and loud lyrics from Grant which is great after a song like Piece by Piece. 9/10

We Cant Rewind - Great song. A bit in between Mellow and hard. Its nice and good chorus 9/10

Turn - 3rd Release from album and its grown on me so much. At first i did'nt much like it but now its one of my favorite tracks! If you notice they always play it on eastenders in the background! 9.5/10

Choke - Not one of the best tracks but as you listen to it more it gets better. Some good lyrics though. 7.5/10

Oxygen - A favorite song by many listeners such as my mates. Its great for a mellow 1. 9/10

Tell all ya friends - This is one of my favorites and when i first heard this i totally enjoyed it! A great fast song which is the shortest track on the album. 9.5/10

Under the Weather - A bit of a depressing loud song really but very interesting. Nice chorus. 9.5/10

Satellite News - Fantastic song. It takes a while to get into the chorus but it is 5 minutes long! This would have to be my favorite along with Buck Rogers i think. Easy listening song.

Bug - I didnt much like this at first but then I got into it quite a lot. My Dad does'nt like it but who cares! Not one of my faves though. 7.5/10

5.0 out of 5 stars Terrific Power Pop, May 16, 2001
By
This review is from: Echo Park (Audio CD)
This is a terrific power-pop album. It's loud, it's catchy, it has a few interesting studio tricks up its sleeve, it's brash and at times somewhat bittersweet. There are huge, chunky slabs of distorted guitar and a nice Britpop sound throughout.

I bought it for "Seven Days in the Sun" and am very happy with the rest of the album as well. I can't think of a single bad track on this record. As a matter of fact I've been listening to it a couple of times a day for the past few days.

The only thing that I'm not crazy about are the lyrics: they are occasionally a bit naff.

Feeder has a bit of an obsession with the trappings of success (clothes by Prada, car CD players, etc, etc) while managing to mantain what appears to be a 14 year old's view point regarding these things. And an unsophisticated 14 year old at that. In other words, Radiohead they ain't.

I don't MIND this teenybopper trip the band seems to be on, but some people might.
