5.0 out of 5 stars R in NJ
This is a great little blower lightweight and the second in the series I've owned(used to have a 260L that I used heavily for 10 years).
I must say I find the other review here ridiculous. Clearly that owner must have abused his machine somehow to have destroyed it. As for the comment that this is the same engine used in a hand held unit, I don't see what...

1.0 out of 5 stars Motor burned out after 1 year of use
The motor burned out after only 1 year of use and Echo would not cover that under warrantee. The echo dealer told me this is just a hand blower mounted on a backpack and should only be used for short periods of time.

4.0 out of 5 stars It's pretty good, November 7, 2011
I have a heavily wooded 1.3 acre lot with just enough open yard to make managing leave a laborious necessity. I wanted a light weight back pac because my shoulders can't take raking anymore and my yard takes time, so I don't want to be waiving a hand held around. Weight, quiet and reasonable power were priorities. I suppose there is never enough power, but didn't want the added weight and decibel level of heavy duty pro models. At about 14 LBs with fuel 65 DB and 135 mph per spec This fits the bill. 2-cycle engine by the way.
Someone pointed out that it is a hand held engine on a back pac. Of course it is!

It's comfortable at least for my slight build. Relatively quiet too, compared to some neighbors. I've used this blower for one season so I can't testify to durability over time. It does my yard, but it is clearly not built for the grind of professional duty.

In any case you should shop around. I've seen this model listed new for anywhere from $259-$239. There are other good choices in that price range and I suspect that if you want a little more power or rugged build you can get it. Look closely and compare. (Check Troy Built, they get good reviews) Pay attention to who does repairs in your area.

As for the comment that this is the same engine used in a hand held unit, I don't see what difference that makes. This is a 25CC blower, and if you want a bigger one with a 50CC engine, buy a bigger one.
