Amazon.com Product Description

A 1:1 scale replica of a genuine mini-gun, this full-size Echo1 airsoft gun is remarkably authentic. The mini-gun fires round 6mm plastic pellets known as BBs, which are propelled out of the gun through a battery-powered mechanism. The advantage of the airsoft mini-gun, however, is that players can safely train, simulate, or play with the gun without fearing serious injury. The airsoft mini-gun looks, feels, weighs, and functions just like a real weapon, but is built for casual recreation rather than weaponized use. In fact, the only way you can typically tell a real-steel firearm from an airsoft mini-gun is the blazing orange tip and the BBs that fire when you pull the trigger. The replica mini-gun offers such features as an all-metal body (except trigger handle), a 1,700-round magazine, and a velocity of 390 to 410 fps. The manufacturer recommends using a 12-volt/12 amp sealed battery or better and a 12-volt/1 amp charger or better (not included), along with high-quality 0.2- and 0.25-gram BBs for higher performance and better accuracy.

About Mini-guns
A mini-gun is a multi-barrel machine gun with a high rate of fire (several thousand rounds per minute), and that employs Gatling-style rotating barrels and an external power source. In popular culture, the term mini-gun has come to refer to any externally powered Gatling gun of rifle caliber, although some use the term to refer to guns of similar rates of fire and configuration, regardless of power source and caliber. Specifically, the mini-gun refers to a single weapon, originally produced by General Electric. The "mini" of the name is in comparison to designs that use a similar firing mechanism but 20 mm or larger shells, such as General Electric's earlier M61 Vulcan.

Specifications:

  • Velocity: 390 to 410 fps
  • Ammo type: Recommended 6mm Echo1 BBs
  • Magazine: 1,700 rounds
  • Action: 12-volt/12 amp battery recommended
  • Charger: 12-volt/1 amp recommended

There are pretty much 5 star reviews, and 1 star reviews. People are either bashing it because they can't afford it and think it's stupid, or people from a company are told to put these reviews on here. None of these reviews were marked as "amazon verified purchases." I suppose they could have bought them elsewhere but then why would they review them on this site? I could be wrong but after actually looking for solid information on this gun, it sounded like a bunch of kids with nothing better to do than bash something, or get excited about something and then write about it. Readers have been frustrating saying "if you don't personally know-why review it"---well, because I've watched video reviews on youtube about it and had any questions that I may have answered by watching them. Things like battery life, rounds per minute, cost of firing the gun for a minute (pretty expensive) And Amazon doesn't let reviews post URL's of other websites on their site, so I can't just copy and paste it for you. I'm only trying to help

There is nothing better than teaching your kids the value of mowing down hordes of enemies/civilians/buildings. Your child can be fully immersed in his commando fantasies. He can stand on your front lawn imagining the mayhem he could create out of the passing APC's disguised as SUV's, terrorist infiltrators in station wagons and the communist liberals in their Volvos. Bring it to the mall for even more fun. Wait until the post office sees you with this bad boy!!! Remember the motto of the mini gun, There are no civilians in my fevered imaginings of war! Get Some Get Some!!

awsome!!! August 29, 2010
This gun is BIG. The only problem with this gun is the BIG price. My advice is not to pop the red tips off and dont bring it around your local post office or your Aunt. All around, this gun is AWSOME.
