5.0 out of 5 stars A word of grace from God., January 6, 2000

This review is from: Echoes of Eternity: Listening to the Father (Volume I) (Paperback)
This little book helps you to listen to God and his words of encouragement to you. Each day there is a short but powerful word of encouragement or counsel written as if God is speaking directly to you. You will be uplifted and renewed in your awareness of God's love for you. Just finished it last year and am starting all over again, its that good. Enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars wonderful devotion, June 10, 2007

This review is from: Echoes of Eternity: Listening to the Father (Volume I) (Paperback)
After hearing about this book for many years, I finally bought it and enjoy reading the devotionals every morning. Short and meaty, Helms has a tender manner of redirecting us back to our path of following Jesus. I bought two other copies as gifts, and now want to order more to give to our adult children and spouses, and my girlfriends.

5.0 out of 5 stars daily inspirations, August 24, 2005
This review is from: Echoes of Eternity: Listening to the Father (Volume I) (Paperback)
I read this book daily, first thing in the morning, and find that the words Helms uses usually lead to some good, deep thinking about how I approach life, both the good and the bad. I've sent it to several friends and like the fact that we are sharing, quietly and privately, in the same initial thoughts.

This devotional book made me respect the author. He was deeply brave and honest. He was able to allow his sins and failures to be publicly exposed for all to see.In spite of his defects he was a rigorously honest man. This book also gave me a deeper insightinto how to understand God.

5.0 out of 5 stars 365 meditations on different scripture verses, March 9, 2005
This review is from: Echoes of Eternity: Listening to the Father (Volume I) (Paperback)
Hal M. Helms (1923-1997) was a Congregational minister who served five different congregations between 1949 and 1974. For twenty-three years he also served on the clergy staff and lived at the Community of Jesus in Orleans, Massachusetts writing a number of devotional books and producing modern versions of Christian classics for contemporary readers including "Pilgrims Progress" and "Confessions of St. Augustine". With Echoes Of Eternity: Listening To The Father, Hal Helms compiled 365 meditations on different scripture verses with a special focus emphasizing the necessity to listen for the still, small voice within us, as well as to speak when we pray. Each of the daily meditations comprising Echoes Of Eternity includes a scripture verse and encouraging words that speak of Chris as our personal anchor, the treasure of God's love, and the abiding peace of God that can sooth even the most troubled of souls. Very highly recommended and with a conveniently pocket-sized portability, Echoes Of Eternity can accompany the reader anywhere for contemplative reading at any appropriate time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Echoes of Eternity: Listening to the Father, March 2, 2008

This review is from: Echoes of Eternity: Listening to the Father (Volume I) (Paperback)
This is an amazing "meat and potatoes" devotional. It relates to me on a daily basis, as though God, with His infinite wisdom and His voice, is speaking to me personally! My first order was for a single copy. This is my second order as I wanted extra copies to share with others whom I know will be as blessed as I am with the daily messages.

I have never read a Christian book like it where God speaks to you in a uplifting way, yet pulls no punches of being soft to soothe the reader when sin is the issue of contention, but is dealt with in a gentle and loving way. As an author of the Christian devotional book, "Walking With The Lord" I eagerly recommend you to read this wonderful book and the companion book volume II. I am certain you will be rewarded reading these books as I have! James Russell - Author.
