Awesome!,

This review is from: Echoes in the Mist (Mass Market Paperback)
This has got to be one of Andrea Kane's best books! Characters are well and cleary defined. Trenton and Ariana are definitely made for each other! This book keeps you reading, and the ending seems to end too fast. You just want to keep reading what continues for the hero and heroine. You don't want to miss this one!

This book was well written. The characters are great and strong. Ariana is so honest and faithful. It is hard to find a book where the wife is the heroine. You must read Trenton's brother Dustin's story in Wishes in the Wind.

For 6 long years, Trenton Kingsley, Duke Of Broddington, has awaited the day when he could avenge his beloved father's death. Returning from self-imposed exile, he strikes at the man he holds responsible - Baxter Caldwell - at his most vulnerable moment and walks away with Baxter's innocent 18 year old sister, Ariana.Ariana, forced to marry the man whom she has been led to believe was somehow to be blamed for her elder sister's apparent suicide 6 years before, is caught in a voltex of a devious and malicious deception. While Ariana is irresistibly drawn to her husband's passionate and gentle nature, she must resolve the mystery that shrouds the past in order to have a future together. And in uncovering the truth, it became apparent that her brother is involved in a nefarious scheme to exact the ultimate vengeance at the expense of her happiness. Echoes In The Mist is a captivating romance culminating in a stunning revelation that's bound to keep the reader glued until the last page is turned. Andrea Kane writes a convincing transition of Trenton's character from darkly menacing to gentle loving husband and Ariana is not merely the sweet innocent that's portrayed initially but a fiercely determined woman who's so much in love with her husband.

Echos in the Mist is a winner,

This review is from: Echoes in the Mist (Mass Market Paperback)
This is one of my favorite Andrea Kane books. The story of Trenton and Ariana is great. Both are characters that you can care about. Trenton falls in love with Ariana despite her family connection to his enemy. There is tenderness to their love which I feel is an Andrea trademark. Ariana is naive but not to naive. There is goodness in her that draws Trenton. There is also suspense which causes this book to be quite the page turner. Plus you get to know his brother who has his own story Wishes in the Wind. If you have not yet read an Andrea Kane book this is a good one to introduce you to the magic that I feel is Andrea Kane.

This is my second book my Andrea Kane and I just loved it. The way she developed the love between Trenton and Ariana was wonderful. Ariana was a great female character. The way she stood by Trenton even when her brother tried to make him look bad in her eyes was heartwarming. Trenton was a wonderful man because no matter how mad he got he was always able to let it go so that he wouldn't hurt Ariana. Great job!!

A Touching Story,

This review is from: Echoes in the Mist (Mass Market Paperback)
Trenton Kingsley is a haunted soul looking for the time that he can avenge things that were done to his family. Ariana is a naive but sweet girl who still believes in the good of people. She is also just what Trenton needs. Ariana's past is connected to Trenton's past in a way that she is about to find out in a shocking way. Trenton sees one of the ways to pay back her brother is to have the queen order Ariana to become his wife. She does marry Trenton and begins to tame the demons that haunt him. This story is about two people who are both strong and and protective. It is also about faith in love and in each other. This is classic Andrea Kane at her best. Don't miss this one.

A Five Star Novel, romantic and passionate,
By
This review is from: Echoes in the Mist (Mass Market Paperback)
Echoes in the Mist is a Victorian romance that is a cut above the rest due to the clever plotting and the emotional dialogue between the protagonists. This is easily one of Andrea Kane's best written novels.Trenton Kingsley has set his course on revenge; the object of his ire is Baxter Caldwell the earl of Winsham. He invades the Earl's betrothal party and meets his destiny in the form of the Earl's younger sister, Arianna. He sees her through the misty night and carries her back to the party when she sprains her ankle. Both are unaware of the other's identity but a very fine connection exists between them. When Arianna discovers Trenton's identity she backs away from him physically and emotionally. She has heard from her brother all kinds of dastardly deeds the man wrought upon their older sister Vanessa. In fact, according to Arianna's brother, Vanessa was so damaged by Trenton that she took her own life. Trenton cannot forget the beautiful Arianna but he is also bent on vengeance, Baxter Caldwell pushed Trenton's father toward an early grave with his innuendos. When Trenton saves Queen Victoria's daughter from drowning the Queen offers him a boon and Trenton, who is a Duke knows exactly what he wants, Arianna as his bride, so by royal decree Arianna weds her family's arch enemy. This book could have easily fallen into a formulaic plot of the heroine hating the hero for the entire book (except the last chapters) but it doesn't. Arianna is a wise woman and she is not afraid to trust her instincts which whisper to her that Trenton is honorable man. Still she has doubts about him and their future. She is stalwart though and she is not afraid to take risks. She is incredibly cheerful and kind traits Trenton dearly needs in his dark life. This novel is a gem, passionate and very romantic. The leads truly like then love each other and the reader gets to see their romance unfold with their actions and words. Even their inner life is rich with their like and respect for each other, overall a terrific story of hope and love.

A sweet but substantial read,
This review is from: Echoes in the Mist (Mass Market Paperback)
I loved this book. It is well written and romantic. What more could I ask for?
However, I had one minor gripe with this book. *possible spoiler* Although I loved the heroine in this book (she has an affinity for nature), I think the author sometimes went overboard in her repeated use of the words 'innocently' and 'artlessly' when describing the heroines actions. Otherwise, this is a really good book.

Touchingly Romantic with a Splash of Mystery!,

This review is from: Echoes in the Mist (Mass Market Paperback)
My first Andrea Kane novel was My Heart's Desire which was absolutely perfect in every way. I read it in a day and then reread it immediately. If you haven't read it.....you must! Then I read Samantha which is the sequel, and disliked it so much that I didn't even finish it (a real rarity for me)! Who was this author, and how could she have penned such perfection with My Heart's Desire and such a dud with Samantha? I didn't know if I should even chance Echoes in the Mist. I'm glad I took the chance!
This book, although not quite as good as My Heart's Desire, was very special. The thing I appreciate about the heroines of Ms. Kane's books is their honesty and lack of game playing. Arianna is no exception to this rule. Arianna and Trenton are married by edict of the queen at Trenton's request. He is not marrying her for love, but instead for revenge. Arianna at first resists the union, but when it is inevitable, she puts her whole heart and soul into the marriage. HOW REFRESHING! She falls in love with her husband very quickly and never tries to hide this from him. HOW REFRESHING! Trenton is very jaded and out for revenge against Arianna's family, but Arianna slowly softens his heart towards revenge as he learns that the promise of love is so much sweeter that the price of hate. HOW REFRESHING! The use of the owl in this book is absolutely beautiful (read to find out the significance!) and a host of secondary characters (Dustin, Trenton's younger brother and Theresa, Arianna's mentor) both provide heart and depth to the story. The mystery is present but doesn't outshine the romance. This is one that I thoroughly enjoyed and recommend highly.

This is another great Kane story! It is the prequel to Wishes in the Wind, so read this one first! I loved the interaction between Trenton and Ariana, and I loved the trust that he had in her. It is so wonderful to see an emotionally scarred person healed by love! Even when she is forced to leave him, she makes sure that he knows that it is not by her choice, that she still loves him very much, and she wants him to come get her. I love Andrea Kane's heros! (Her heroines are good to, but the heros take the cake!)
