Eclectic mix of relaxing themes,

This review is from: Echoes of Nature: American Wilds (Audio CD)
I have many of these environmental cds, but it seems that this is one of the few that I reach for most often. It has a little bit of everything, and not just one main theme repeated throughout the cd. There are tracks of song birds, rainshowers, frogs, woods and more. A great night's rest is guaranteed for me when I put this one in!

American Wilds, Vol. 1,

This is a fine C.D. It is exactly what I wanted. Just clear nature sounds without added music. At this time of the year here in Michigan I needed this C.D. As I listen, my imagination whisks me into Spring as the birds call or the crickets chirp. Very nice, indeed.

I bought this CD with a bunch of others, hoping for something that would let me calm down and imagine for a moment that I'm someplace other than in the heart of a busy city. Out of the bunch I like this CD most, it's got all the calming serene sounds of the wilds. It's very delicate, soothing and calming, I can almost feel like I'm walking around in a forest with a backpack and hiking boots, and I'm the only human around. If you need to calm down after a busy day at work this is worth a look: you get the sounds of birds, frogs, animals, water flowing and rain. I play it for our baby when she's ready to go to sleep. Well worth it for the price.

Pet relaxer,

I found this CD to be very calming. Not just for me but for my pet bunny. She isn't the friendliest dwarf rabbit but when this CD is playing I can brush her and pet her with no problem.
I found the CD a relaxing background to listen to when I am reading a book. Because I live in the city I find it refreshing to listen to the sounds of nature. I use this CD as kind of an escape to there when the city noises seem to overwhelm me.

This CD records nature sounds with such clarity that you would swear you were in the same room with the birds, the crickets, and other critters. My dog kept looking around for the wildlife. I wish the CD included linernotes as to where the sounds were recorded, as well as the date recorded, but the lack of such would not keep me from purchasing another CD from the same company.

American Wilds is one of the best nature CDs in my collection. The environments are recorded well and there is a variety of sounds on this disc. I recommend it to anyone looking to start a nature sounds collection.

Echoes of Nature is one of the lovliest CDs I have ever had the pleasure of listening to. I am immediately transformed to the woods amidst the miracles that exist there. It is so soothing. Thank you for creating it.

The track "wilderness rainshower" contains a repetitive sound that is very unpleasant to listen to. I downloaded this album to play in my office to drown out chatter without being too distracting like music lyrics can be, which it does very well otherwise. I thought maintenance was dragging something heavy and metal on the floor above me and I was about to pick up the phone to ask what was going on when it wasn't stopping, when I realized it was coming from this track. I guess it is the elk. Would have woken me up if I had been sleeping. Unfortunately this track is the longest one in this collection, so deleting it reduces the duration significantly.
I highly recommend wilderness river and the songbird one from this same collection.

When you want something you can even sleep to,

I have many nature CDs I enjoy listening to, but they all have background music in them. My husband asked if I could find him a nature sounds CD, without music in the background so he could use it to sleep to. (Working nights, he needs something for background noise while he's sleeping during the day).
After much searching, I found Echoes of Nature: American Wilds, and it is perfect. Because of the need to sleep to the sounds, having a CD WITHOUT an over abundance of chirping and singing birds was necessary. This is exactly it. A nice mixture of different forest sounds are included, without anything sounding fake or overwhelming. It's filled with calm and subtle sounds, that are easy to relax or sleep to. Just what we were looking for!

Since these CD's are prepared after someone orders them, I wondered about the quality, but the whole CD is the quality of the clip that led me to buy it.
Although I don't think the CD is advertised as a sleep aid, I play the night tracks (frogs, crickets, cicadas--but not the wolf one!) at bedtime, on a player with a timer. It takes me back to childhood in the country, sleeping with the windows open, no noise except the tiny country animals going about their lives... and makes me drowsy every time. |
