This is the second of three box sets of five discs each from the "Echoes of Nature" series. These discs contain all natural sounds and no musical accompaniment. The titles in the box are "American Wilds," "Ocean Waves," "Morning Songbirds," "Thunderstorm," and "Frog Chorus." All are well produced, as one would expect from this sries, but I find "Thunderstorm" especially wonderful because, unlike some other thunderstorm recordings, this one includes not just just the storm sounds but also the sounds of the local wildlife, just as you might hear them before and after the rain.

Run a search on any of the individual CD titles for more reviews of the individual discs; most amazon.com readers are as pleased with these CDs as I am .

Consumer note: I don't know what the person who wrote the December 17, 2000 review is talking about. Perhaps he/she received a mislabeled box with the wrong CDs inside. I own this box and, like the previous reviewers, can attest to the fact that there is NO music on it.

I can honestly say that this collection is the best deal out there. I have never bought a nature-type CD, but I decided to get some after having problems relaxing and sleeping. I shopped around and listened to several of the samples provided by Amazon.com before I decided to buy this collection. I couldn't have made a better selection. The recordings are excellent. There is no distracting background music. They are pieced together wonderfully. And best of all, they have helped tremendously. I will put on the Ocean Waves CD and I am out before the first track is even done. Another great thing is that it contains all the CD's that I wanted, but that Amazon.com doesn't have immediately available. That is, the Thunderstorms, the Morning Songbirds, and the American Wilds. So, you get them all without waiting. If you are in the market to buy some nature CD's this collection is it. You get 5 CD's for less then the price of one traditional CD. So, you can't go wrong.

First let me say that this is a GREAT buy! You get 5 different nature albums in one collection at a decent price.. My only complaint is the ocean track.. It sounds more like static than actual ocean waves. I would have rated this at 4 stars because of this cd but for the price I gave it 5. For a more realistic ocean track I would strongly suggest that you pick up "Peaceful Ocean Surf" by Nature's Music..

The other cds in this collection are great! Pick one up and take a listen! You won't be disappointed!

This is a great collection. Its so clear, you can almost hear every last raindrop as it strikes a leaf or the ground. I have previously picked up a Peter Roberts CD (the kind you get at Target)and I have to say it was very muddled. These discs are crystal clear.

Then. To top it all off, you get five of them. What a deal!!! Until you listen to the Ocean Waves CD, you never really stop to think all the diversity in types of beaches and the differences in the way they sound as the waves hit the beach. You get everything from small lapping waves (called "Low Tide")to thunderous waves ("Big Surf").

The Morning Songbirds CD throws seagulls on top of the waves. Great! Another couple of tracks put the birds over the sounds of streams.

The American Wilds CD even has Wolf calls over a night filled with crickets. That's gotta be hard to find. I love wolves and I would have never thought to look for a nature sounds CD with that on it.

You also get the ubiquitous Thunder and Rain CD which, unfortunately, is a little muddled and the Frog Chorus CD which is a little uninspired. Minus half a star for the former and minus half a star for the latter.

... I am in cacoon of sound ... no railroad, no highway is heard... - that was the purpose to buy.
The sound is very natural - not naturalistic like in best computer games - but very real. Transitions from track to track are very mild and smooth - noticable, but no gaps or silence pauses. Very impressive.

The only problem with this collection is deciding which one to play first! I'm especially fond of the Ocean Waves, Thunderstorm, and Frog Chorus CDs for bedtime. The Songbirds are great in the morning-- their songs really brighten the day. This collection really is wonderful, and a terrific bargain.

I had written a review of a different version of this boxed CD set... I've owned it for almost 10 years now, and it is wonderful noise cancelation, "Ocean Waves" in particular. If you live in a noisy area, or want to drown out your co-workers, but don't want to be distract pop this in and put on a pair of headphones.

And, as a previous reviewer mentioned, you'll be surprised at the diversity and clarity of sounds. The different beaches in "Ocean Waves" are very distinct; in "Pebbly beach," you can actually hear the pebbles washing away -- really cool!

The frog choruses can get a little distracting, but are particurly fun to confuse people with. :)

It's a tremendous bargain, and well worth it. Try layering it underneath regular music as well!

I ordered this collection on the strength of the other reviews here, and I'm so impressed! It's hours and hours of high-quality nature sounds. There's no music, no interference, and no interruptions between tracks. These are the perfect CDs to fall asleep to, to wake up to, or to have in the background as you go about your day. I can't recommend them strongly enough.

I was looking for a quality CD that would bring outdoors indoors to my office. I didn't want musically enhanced recordings but rather something as realistic as possible. This box set gives you an incredible variety, excellent quality at a great price. It is exactly what I was looking for... times five!

You really get your money's worth here. 5 CD's, all different and all good. It's a pleasure, nice having the variety of natural sounds in a boxed set. I highly recommend if you're looking for this sort of thing.
