5.0 out of 5 stars clear, beautiful and relaxing sounds of nature
This disc contains seven tracks of natural sounds of the wild for a total of 46 minutes of delicate listening. The only non-bird sounds are surf, rain, wind and a babbling stream. The recordings are remarkably clear. I bought this to soothe my children at naptime and bedtime---and it works! They request it now. If you're looking for pure nature sounds, I can...

I bought this CD as background for meditation. I have many positive things to say about it. The birdsong and water sounds are relaxing. Because there are discreet timed tracks, it gives you the option to select a track for the time you want to meditate, and then you know when to come out as the track ends.

3.0 out of 5 stars Uneven in places, January 27, 2003
This review is from: Echoes of Nature: Morning Songbirds (Audio CD)
I bought this CD as background for meditation. I have many positive things to say about it. The birdsong and water sounds are relaxing. Because there are discreet timed tracks, it gives you the option to select a track for the time you want to meditate, and then you know when to come out as the track ends.

However, the sound quality is uneven, and as a result is not natural sounding. For instance, the first track opens with pounding surf and no birds. Then the surf sound fades to nothing and the bird song is brought up. So it sounds very managed instead of being natural.

Also, the "ocean birds" sound pretty strange to me. Not what I am used to. Maybe pacific ocean birds sound different to the Atlantic ones I am used to , but I doubt it.

One of the tracks has a waterfall that sounds a bit bathwater-ish and the rainfall sounds a bit like static hiss at the beginning.

But despite the mixed quality it is a relaxing set of recordings. And it's hard to go wrong at this price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very soothing, April 15, 2000

You can't get much better than this... I played this at home, and my dad thought I had a window open. The different tracks blend together very well; you won't notice the transitions. It's very soothing, except for the occasional woodpecker, which I found very charming.

5.0 out of 5 stars my parakeet loves this cd!, July 26, 2002

I own a very tame parakeet, but i'm at work six to eight hours a day, leaving my little bird all by himself. I now play this cd for him, and i cant even hear it over his happy chirping. When he is quiet enough for me to listen, i find it the most soothing of all the "bird cds" I own. I highly reccomend this cd for anyone with a lonely bird, or anyone who wants a nice, relaxing, soothing cd.

5.0 out of 5 stars Serenity upon waking OR going to sleep!, October 11, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Echoes of Nature: Morning Songbirds (Audio CD)
If you love the sound of birds, this is IT! Happy, serene, relaxing, but it won't put you to back to sleep in the morning! As a bonus, it's fun to watch my two cats hunting around the room for the birds they hear! No music, which makes this exactly what I was looking for.

5.0 out of 5 stars Songbirds, July 28, 2002

WONDERFUL cd! Bought previous birdsong cds and they had musical backgrounds; this one is natural. Not such soft sounds that you turn the volume all the way up and then suddenly get hit with 100 decibels when the music strikes! It's perfect for use in my alarm clock; nice waking up on those cold January mornings to birdsong.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not just for the birds - but they like it too!, June 1, 2001

I have this CD, and it is wonderful. In fact, the entire set is an auditory journey through natural history. It starts out with the sounds of rolling surf and seagulls. While your ears listen, your mind whisks you away to pristine forests, rushing mountain streams and clear summer beaches. You can almost smell the sea spray and feel the dew on the fern fronds. It ends with the melancholy cooing of the mourning dove. This seems to be the most appropriate bird song for the end of this soulful and enchanting CD.

I keep finches, and I play this CD for them practially everyday. I call it their "birdie music". They enjoy it every time I play it and become quite excited at the first sounds of the ocean. The recording is so clear that my finches can never seem to tell if the birds are inside the house or outside beyond the windows. They even call back to the CD. The most interesting thing about this response is that all of my finches are from either Australia or Africa yet they respond to North American Cardinals.

If you are looking to relax, this is the CD for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sounds like home, August 2, 2005
This review is from: Echoes of Nature: Morning Songbirds (Audio CD)
I'm really surprised that this cd only sells for less than six bucks!! If it's birds you want, then it's birds you get. I used to live on the Oregon coast and this cd brought back all those memories of the beach and marshes that I love so much. The sound quality is great and so natural. They did a great job with this one.

I haven't found a single relaxation/meditation/nature CD that I like nearly as much as this. To be honest - there are places on the other CDs that I want to skip over (or just let collect dust). This one, however, I listen to clear through with absolutely NO problem! I can't imagine anyone being disappointed. Everyone I purchased this for was extremely pleased, also!

5.0 out of 5 stars A day in the Pacific Northwest, July 11, 2005
This review is from: Echoes of Nature: Morning Songbirds (Audio CD)
Having lived in the Northwest all of my life, I adore this CD! Each track is like going to a different place I've been: a forest near the beach, a creek, a marsh. There is even a track which sounds like a classic western Oregon rainstorm. The one exception is the final track, which includes birds from back East, such as Northern Cardinals, but is no less enjoyable; one can hear woodpeckers and the haunting song of the Mourning Dove. Since I'm an avid birder, this CD gives me the opportunity to practice and refresh my knowledge of local bird sounds, such as the Swainson's Thrush, Western Tanager, Common Yellowthroat and others.

I highly recommend this disc for all bird and nature lovers, especially those who have heard and seen the beauty of the great Pacific Northwest.
