5.0 out of 5 stars Great for all Primitives fans December 9, 2012
By rol1134
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
Since their discography is so small, it's almost necessary to pick this up if you are a fan.

All old cover songs, but with the trademark Primitives jangly guitars. I was not familiar with any of these old covers, so for me it was like hearing original material.

Great stuff.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's almost like they never left. October 27, 2012
Format:MP3 Music|Verified Purchase
I really have nothing profound to say about this collection except that if you ever had any enthusiasm for this band you'd be well-advised to acquire it.

It should be noted that this is only a collection of covers, but the songs are so obscure that it's very likely that it'll be the first time you've heard them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love it! May 16, 2012

An entire album of covers of obscure songs from the 60's - definitely something that could have gone terribly wrong - but is wonderfully done!

5.0 out of 5 stars Primitives - 'Echoes & Rhymes' (Elefant Records) April 1, 2014
Format:Audio CD
The long-awaited fourth proper album release by The Primitives. If you haven't seen any physical copies of this title, it's because 'Echoes & Rhymes' is on a Spanish label - Elefant Records and I was informed that they are usually extremely hard to find. No matter, the download is just as good. Thoroughly enjoyed this release from this '80's pop band that until a year or so ago, I vaguely remember them. "Turn Off The Moon" has a definite punk edge that was initially a B-side to a soundtrack, also dug the sassy "Move It On Over", the awesome "Sunshine In My Rainy Day Mind", the Jackie DeShannon-penned "I'm Not Sayin'" and "Single Girl" noticeably showcases vocalist Tracy Tracy's gorgeous voice. After listening to this CD several times, I discovered that it truly tends to grow on you. "Time Slips Away" threw me for a loop as it's a Shocking Blue cover (band virtually known for their one U.S. hit "Venus") and "Amoureux D'une Affiche" proves that Tracy Tracy is a bilingual rocker - because this cut is sung in Spanish. Was also impressed with two songs - the previously mentioned "I'm Not Sayin'" and "Wild Flower" where guitarist Paul Court supplies the vocals. Very nice, to say the least. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a great comeback for the Primitives July 29, 2014
Format:MP3 Music|Verified Purchase
What a great comeback for the Primitives. They cannily chose a record of obscure 60s covers. I've missed them but they picked up right where they had left off. Tracy sounds great and it's a solid outing for one of the best power pop/punk bands from the UK
