Well I've never heard of Echoing Green until just recently. I was at a music festival in Willmar Minnesota called "SonShine".They were there and I heard them and I went crazy! They are awesome! If you like Raze or World Wide Message Tribe you will love Echoing Green.

Almost Perfect,

I think the best way I can describe the Echoing Green is this. They are techno for people who hate techno. Ok ok, so E.G. fan's are probably screaming they're not techno, and I know. They're techno/rock/pop/whatever. My point is this. Whenever I ask someone why they hate techno I get the same response. It's so repeditive. That's when I recommend the Echoing Green. Not only are they able to put out great electronic music, but Joey has incredible lyrical abilities throughout an entire song. Not the usual catch phrase repeated over and over again in a lot of techno. As for this album, it's almost perfect. I'm not to partial towards the last few songs, but before that it's awesome. Anyone who grew up with 80's music must buy this album simply for E.G.'s cover of "Safety Dance." As for everyone else, I can guarantee you'll find at least one song to love on this album.

TOTALLY AWESOME,

The electronic-pop quality of this production is very excellent. The lyric content is righteous without pretense. I understand from the artists' comments that part of their intent is fun - AND THEY GET THERE. The music is fun - and really great fun. For the discerning lyrical listener, the meat of the songs' message(s) will be satisfying. I found it so - and I've been a listener to euro rave and techno for several years now. The european artists are very creative in how they express the message they intend - and although I do not always agree with the message - the artists do oftentimes give the listener's mind something to chew on. TEG has done great, and will do even better. If you don't buy this CD now, you will! later - when you have decided to collect every CD they have produced!

Awesome techno band,

My musical tastes tend to run towards alternative, rock, and contemporary music. Every once in a while, though, I discover a band outside those genres that catches my ear. The Echoing Green is definitely such a band, and one that I've been a fan of for several years. From the introductory chords of "The Power Cosmic" to the closing strains of a remix to the same, The Echoing Green is nothing but 100% computer generated electronic house music, full of beat, rhythm, energy, and oh - lest I forget - the hope of Christ. It's rare to find a techno / rave artist this cool, one whose music would be at home in any dance club in the country, that sings for God. I'm reminded at times of some secular dance artists I listened to in high school - before I discovered Christian music - such as Anything Box and Paula Abdul. The only other Christian artists I can think of that are remotely close are World Wide Message Tribe and Code of Ethics - both of which do a slightly different dance format (and even Code Of Ethics could arguably be considered an alternative band in their later albums). Like most dance music, The Echoing Green is better listened to than spoken about - it's next to impossible to capture the awesome beat, originality, and general coolness of this music in mere words. It certainly won't appeal to every reader - particularly to those with weak hearts! But if you're a fan of dance / synthpop / rave / techno music, pick this album up, and find a powerful stereo (one with a heavy duty subwoofer will do quite nicely) to crank it out with!

<---- I'll explain below....,

I've been a fan of TEG ever since I heard a song by them on Flying Tart's Christmas album. The first CD I bought from them was Hope Spring Eternal, and though I wasn't into that style of music, TEG pulls off being a techno-dance band that appeals to people who generally listen to other types of music. I think that most of the songs on this album are great. Many of the songs are true tests of a sound system's ability to faithfully reproduce bass tones down to and below 30 Hz. Truly something to be appreciated on a good sound system. Here's the downside though: I found this album to be a missing a lot of lyrical punch of Hope Springs Eternal, and that is the only reason why it's at 4 stars. Oh, BTW: Freak Out is AWESOME! Thank you, and remember: "Before you criticize someone, walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you do it, you'll be a mile away, and you'll have their shoes!"

I got this cd after I got Supernova. But before I knew the group, I had the song Hide on one of my various artists cds. I thought it was an ok song until I found out my youth pastor had this cd and he played it in the car when we were going to the 2000 Youth Convention. When it played number 8 I thought it was a really cool song and I wanted it for Christmas but I got Supernova instead. I still got it after and when I listened to it I thought the other songs were cool too. Some songs like Saftey Dance and Tonight are not really christian songs but the rest are. The group does a really good job and doing really cool sound effects that make you daydrem about unrealiy things. I like all the songs but I really like Supermodel Citizen (Number 8 really electronical), Accidentlly 4th Street(Gloria), and The Power Cosmic. If you are an electronic fan you'd love this cd.

Never have I liked this genre of music but when I was sitting at the musicfest Lollapaloma and I heard a remake of Safety Dance that made everyone dance, I had to buy this album. Dance music that you can actually sing along with! Great stuff.

WOW! This cd is one of the coolest christian techno cds out there. Joey b. really outdid himself on this one. He incorporated trance/dance/house/techno with great melodies and heartfelt lyrics. Plus added old favorites such as Freak Out and Safety Dance. Great cd. Every song is awesome.

After Hope Springs Eternal, I figured, "well, here is another great techno/rave/synthpop sanctified dance band going down the tubes as they go back to cranking out rock." Fortunately, the Echoing Green has recaptured their (his?) previous wonderful energetic sound. This album is, if anything, better than Defend Your Joy. Get it if you like Echoing Green.
