Review

National Geographic Kids (Young Adult Action Adventure)
"I would definitely recommend this book to someone in middle school or older."

Portland Book Review (Teen Books)
"Imagine an online villain has come to life with a personal vendetta against you."

VOYA Reviews (Teen Adventure)
"Starts off with a bang, containing no shortage of adventure, suspense, and imagination."

The Midwest Book Review (Video Game Fiction)
"'Echo's Revenge' is a blend of familial and near-future science fiction that should resonate well with many young readers."

American Chronicle (YA Adventure)
"[Their epic adventure] brings them closer together as brothers and closer to an adult world in which they will have the confidence to survive."

San Francisco Children's Fiction Examiner (Young Adult Action Adventure)
"We recommend 'Echo's Revenge' to any reader who enjoys gaming, fantasy and a suspenseful story."

Book Trends (Teen Books For Boys)
"This action packed thriller is jam-packed with adventure and will keep you at the edge of your seat."

Cyrus Webb - Conversations Book Club  (YA Tech Thriller)
"For everyone who has wanted their entertainment to be as real as it can get, be careful! Sometimes it can be a little too real, and when that happens you might find yourself in a race against time to survive not just another round or level but another day!...Keeping the pages turning from beginning to end, Sean Austin's ECHO'S REVENGE scores big for action lovers and avid readers. "

Monsters and Critics (Young Adult Science Fiction And Fantasy)
"A terrifying tale that will appeal to male gamers."

Heise Reads & Recommends (Teen Game Adventure)
Student #1: "There are only three books that I admire. The books are THE HUNGER GAMES, PERCY JACKSON, and ECHO'S REVENGE. ECHO'S REVENGE has a lot of action, adventure, and mystery. The action and adventure keep you at the edge of your seat wanting to read more. How would you like to be in a car going really fast or see a farting dog? Or what about a crow 33 feet in the air gliding towards you? What about two brothers [fighting] a 35 foot tall deadly creature and pushing it into a bottomless pit? This is why I can't wait till the next book!!"

Allen Cook - The Book Review (YA Game Thriller)
"Echo's Revenge: The Ultimate Game is an extremely well written and exciting book about the world of video games and gamers. The book is aimed at the young adult (YA) crowd and as such is very family friendly - no bad language or adult situations."

Big Shiny Robot (Science Fiction)
"Recommended for fans of Ender's Game, kids who are not yet ready for Lord of the Flies, and anyone who would like to see Jame Luceno's Web Warriors in a more realistic setting..."

More About the Author

Sean Austin (aka Hart Getzen) is a father of avid gamers as well as a writer and producer of simulation and gaming entertainment for companies such as IMAX, Hitachi and Universal Studios. Using ECHO's Revenge as a springboard, Getzen guest lectures on writing and STEM career development at middle-grade and high schools. The author has also lectures on design and production of Location Based Entertainment at universities such as the Rhode Island School of Design.

"The ECHO's Revenge series provokes gamers to consider the ethics of Artificial Intelligence and its impact on both designing and playing games - what happens when a group of people work together to create a game, and imbue it not only with its own intelligence, but with their own spirit? What are the political and interpersonal dynamics of that team enterprise, and what challenges may game designers face when their AI evolves in an unanticipated direction?"

I bought this book for my pre-teen daughter who blasted through it in a day. She is a very adept gamer (Steam, Portal, Animal Crossing, etc) and it held her interest which is saying a lot. My son is now at the same age and after trying to interest him in Neuromancer, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, and Enders Game, all of which proved too tech arcane, I sent this book to his Kindle and asked him to give it a try. It was tech savvy enough to hold his interest (he is also a gamer into Minecraft, Garry's Mod, Portal 1 and 2, Little Inferno) and so far I am grateful that writers with real tech backgrounds are writing fiction that holds the interest of young gamers. It's important to me that literature maintains a connection and relevance to my children.

Echo's Revenge: The Ultimate Game, is a great book that can help kids understand that it is important to remain with your partner and watch our for him or her. It could seem real and it could seem that it might actually happen, even though this is a fantasy book. The author did a fantastic job and he puts a great story, excellent wording, memorable characters, and much more. I would like to congratulate the author on his great book.

Echo's Revenge is a story about two boys who embark on a journey to live with their father in Southern California. As they head south, they soon encounter a very real version of the game boss they have defeated many times online. Every step they make towards their ultimate goal seems to intensify Echo's motivation to capture the boys.
I wouldn't normally read a YA Science Fiction with a video game theme, however it was recommended to me by a friend, who LOVES video games, so I thought I would give it a try. I was surprised how much I actually liked this book and can't believe how attached and concerned I became for the characters. I felt like I was a part of the journey! I read this book in two days and gave it to my little brother to see what he thinks. So far, he's put down his play station controller and Echo's Revenge has been the replacement! If your looking for a well written, fast pace action about video games, here's your little gem!

I wasn't up on the gamer world and was curious about how it reads rather than how it plays. That would come later. I couldn't have found a better book than Echo's Revenge as it deals with what could be called The Continuity, a term used by quantum physicists when describing the future and robotics.

But the future is here and now for two boys, 14-year old Reggie and his younger brother Jeremy, 11, both of whom are in the gamer world and the real one. It's the real world that leads the boys from a bad home situation and on an odyssey to find their father but the fantasy world joins them on the road. Both worlds lead them unknowing towards a fate that is controlled by Echo-7, the latest version of their game.

It's a very readable book for any age and the characters are all drawn with care and complexity. You feel for all the gamers who become pawns in a larger game that leads them to a dark world within our own world, a place that suggests a supernatural twist. The setups worked beautifully, what wasn't clear in the beginning, becomes clearer in the middle and finally becomes a spectacular face-off between reality and fantasy. The author has truly created a world of computerized games, family conflicts, bonds of friendship and exploration. It had me all the way through.

I loved this book! It was a perfect revenge story for all Sci-fi lovers and everybody. Reggie and Jeremy stay together and help each other, like real brothers should do. I think everybody should take the time to read this great book.

Where do the worlds of reality and online gaming cross? In ECHO's Revenge, the conflict Reggie and Jeremy experience is so surreal they have difficulty understanding whether they are dreaming or if it's the real world. An indestructible, invisible, 35-foot tall game boss they have been fighting in an online game comes to life to stalk them. If these brothers tell anyone what they have seen, their sanity would be questioned. However these boys are not crazy. The developers of the ECHO's Revenge game series are testing their morality and gaming abilities through the next version of the ECHO series with a real-version game boss.

This was a fun and fast read that kept me guessing till the end. To see how far technology has come in such a short time makes the idea of an advance robotic machine very plausible, even scary at the same time. I noticed the author liked to switch perspectives between characters which is quite different from a traditional story and somewhat like a video game, though it didn't slow me down reading. Overall, I would recommend this book to YA readers who enjoy a well-written Science Fiction book about the video game world.

This book is about two main characters named Reggie and Jeremy. They are expert gamers in an online video game called ECHO's Revenge, but they don't know that the next version of ECHO has already been created in the real world. On their journey escaping their dysfunctional household, they encounter strange occurrences which lead up to what has been stalking them the entire time. ECHO-7 has changed the rules of its existence and is hunting down all of the ECHO's Revenge video gamers. I dont want to say more as i dont want to give anything away, so read it and find out for yourself. However, if I were to compare this book to anything, I would have to say it's a cross between Jurassic Park and Transformers to make a robotic reptilian that is chasing you down and always about to bite your rear. Sean Austin did an excellent job describing the characters and events, putting me right into the action
