ABOUT THE AUTHOR Dr. Alicia B. Harvey-Smith is a nationally recognized educator, author, poet, speaker and consultant. She is president of A. B. Harvey-Smith Educational Consulting and Presentations and has served successfully as dean and vice president in the community college arena. She has authored several published works including: Partnering for Success: How to Build Strong Internal Collaborations in Higher Education (LRP Publications); The Seventh Learning College Principle: A Framework for Transformational Change (National Association of Student Personnel Administrators); and Getting Real: Proven Strategies for Student Survival and Academic Success (Duncan & Duncan) and is the originator of the Seventh Learning College Principle, a philosophy and approach to cultural transformation which has been adopted into practice by two-and four-year colleges and universities. Dr. Harvey-Smith has received many honors and is the recipient of the 2011 Living Women History Makers Award from the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women’s Clubs, Inc. This dynamic writer and leader soon will release the much anticipated: CARE – Essential Leadership Standards for Unlocking The Authentic Leader Within. Dr. Harvey-Smith earned a Ph.D. in counseling and personnel services with a concentration in retention in higher education from the University of Maryland, College Park; Masters of Science degree in guidance and counseling from The Johns Hopkins University and a Bachelors of Science degree in business administration from Morgan State University. Dr. Harvey-Smith and her husband, Donald of 28 years, reside in Maryland.
