And why would you think clicking the left arrow was the control to move up and down on the menu?

I eventually plugged it to the computer and it indicated that the batter was low. (huh), It won't even keep a charge for 24 hours although it was completely shut off?

When I tried to turn it off and back on, it was permanently stuck at the "Eclipse" screen that shows up when loading.

I bought this player looking for a little throwaway device after reading the reviews, and was blown away with how much better this was than i expected. Looking at the old reviews i see a lot of complaints, and i think that the company must have had a design change at some point because the player i got is excellent. First it has an aluminum casing and not plastic. second the menu system is really similar to my ipod so i had no issues picking it up. it sorts by ID3 tags, letting me decide by artist. album, genre, etc. as well as just going in and sorting by folders. All in all i'm very impressed.

This mp3 player looks like a good buy, when really it is trash. It freezes every 10 seconds and can't even play any music. Do not buy. If you want a good quality, inexpensive iPod alternative, buy a sansa clip zip for the extra $30.

Very disappointed. Wasted a lot of time trying to get this thng to work until I discovered that the the cable it came with was defective. I was first told that everything would have to be shipped back to them so they could determine if it was the cable. They later said they would replace it if I shipped it back to them so they could verify it was defective before replacing it. You know you have a bad product when even your owner's manual warns that you may have a defective cord.

Verified Purchase
Unable to add music and now, it just does not work at all. Very unhappy grandchild. Had to buy something else that works.

Got this thing after an ipod died and looking for a cheap, bare bones replacement. This was the cheapest thing at best buy that seemed to advertise a decent enough set of features so I went with it. Well at first it seemed OK - the controls are totally convoluted but it's still more or less usable. I actually like that it doesn't require any software and you can just open windows explorer and drag+drop files into this. This thing would be passable, but not good, if it actually worked. However, it will not hold a charge whatsoever. No matter how long you leave it plugged in (it only has a usb connection) it will only charge like 10% and die after a few minutes of use. I read that these are known for being shipped with cables that don't work so I tried it with a different cable and it still didn't charge (i tested the original cable on something else and it worked fine). So basically as it can only be used for 5 minutes or less before dying it is nonfunctional. AVOID!

I agree with most of the other reviewers. The bubble wrap is less frustrating than trying to use this player. It will not fully charge and the controls do not match the descriptions on the doc file and the device probably won't last long enough to learn how to use it by trial and error. The FM radio is a joke (on me I guess). Just another cheap and useless product for the landfill from you know where.

Apparently, Eclipse is just not a good brand for MP3 players. This is the second one of theirs I've purchased (had to return the first one because it froze when I plugged it into the computer and couldn't be fixed). With this version, my computer sometimes recognizes there is a device, but mostly it doesn't "see" it. Since I've never had a problem with my USB ports, this must be a problem with this player. BTW - I paid $30 for it at KMART. Get to take it back!

Please don't bother buying this.

I bought this player as a replacement for my sansa that quit working. I cannot give this product any stars as it is worthless and I am going to return it with a quickness. Update: Amazon feedback system doesn't allow for 0 stars so it gets 1. Tops on my long list of deficiencies is Low volume. controls that are difficult to understand and or use. Very slow responding. The creme de la creme it doesn't even turn itself off after the album quits playing. Complete GARBAGE!
