Each panel is only 27" inches wide for total window coverage of 54".

Once you stick the hooks in your curtain, and then try to hang the liner on to the hooks, by the time you get one hooked on the other comes off.

These curtains really do a great job in blocking out the light and they kept my room much warmer this winter.

I am appalled that people have complained about this item & the description has not changed! You are not getting two 54" panels as you would think, but two panels that add up to 54". I'm not happy but I can't find any blackout curtains for less. So, I am buying another "pair" of 54" total curtains so I can span my 80" windows. To make matters worse, it says you can iron out wrinkles with a "coolish" iron; not true at all!! It didn't even flatten the wrinkles. I am going to try using some water on a wrinkle in a non-obvious place to see if that works first. Oh & its not made out of foam like they say either. I was expecting ones like the curtains I have in my living room: two pieces of fabric--one made of canvas like material-with a thin foam center. Instead, its more like fabric-lined soft plastic. I will try these out, but I'm never buying from Eclipse again.

I'm concerned with people's comments on the fumes & smell it gives off in the heat. I am hoping the blinds in front of the curtains will avoid that...otherwise I may have to buy new curtains! I won't know until summer though!

Just go to another site & try to find black out panels. The selection on Amazon.com right now is pitiful & this company's products are not what they advertise. Would not buy again.

We bought these blackout liners for our son's nursery. They're good at blocking light, but they're only just as wide as our windows, so the sunlight pours in on either side, making the room hardly any darker than with ordinary sheers. A little wider and they might have done the job. They also gave off a plastic-like, chemical smell that filled the room. The smell faded with time, but made me wonder what fumes were emitted. I plan to return them and buy plain white curtains to use as liners.

The sizing is totally unclear here! They say its a pair of 54 inch panels, but what they mean is a TOTAL of 54 inches - each panel is only 27 inches wide! I have a window almost 100 inches wide so these are completely useless to me!
So unclear!!!

We bought these to go behind my son's yellow sheer curtains in his new "big boy" room. In his nursery we had just stapled blackout fabric over the window, but he's at the age now where he likes to look out the window to all the cars below. They fit perfectly behind his curtains, and I love that I can open the curtains completely to let him look out the window. They block out most light, but of course there are little cracks. I put some snaps down the middle seams so that I could snap them together to prevent that gap, and I used peel and stick velcro to close in the edge seams. It works great, and we have not had any issues with the smell that other users reported, and we're in sunny Florida, where extremely hot direct sunlight hits the curtains every day.

In the description it states that this product blocks out 99% of light - this is false. We bought these "black out" curtains for our toddlers room to make it dark enough for nap time, expecting that these would block out the light. Even with a roller shade behind these "black out" curtains they do not block out enough light. They dim the room, but there is still enough light coming through the curtains to read a book (and I do mean coming through the curtains, not around the sides or over the top, but right through the fabric). We put velcro on the sides to attach the curtains to the wall and a line of velcro down the center to completely seal the two curtains in the center and around all edges, in addition to putting a piece of foam the width of the window on the top to seal around all edges completely. However, the light comes right through the fabric to illuminate the room. We are serious about creating a blacked out room for our toddler's nap time. A neighbor uses black out shades, which are black paper shades that you cut to size (also sold on Amazon) and her baby's room is truly blacked out. We were hoping for a curtain solution, since the black out shades are, well to be frank, ugly and cheap looking....but they work and you can't argue with that. We are purchasing the black out shades and will clip them up when not in use to hide the hideousness. It's a simple matter of function over form in this case. This review is by someone who is 100% non-compensated in any way, shape or form.

and mine were not smelly at all. I was quite concerned about this because I am fairly sensitive to smells and very concerned about chemicals in the house, e.g. I have an organic mattress and sheets and am very careful about airing out new products e.g. cheap bookshelves that exude formaldehyde, etc. Right out of the package, I had to put my nose to within about 1" of the curtains to smell anything. At that distance there was just a very slight plastic smell as one might expect from a new product of this type. By the next day even that had dissipated.

I am a bit mystified by the different experiences reviewers have had regarding smelliness. I guess there are super-sensitive people as opposed to ordinary sensitive people like me. Or possibly different shipments are from different manufacturers, leading to some variation. Who knows. All I can say is mine were fine and I'm happy that I was not scared off by the negative reports.

I received two 27" panels. At least one reviewer reported receiving two 54" panels but like me, most reviewers seem to have received 27" panels.

All in all, just what I needed at a reasonable price and what appears to be reasonable quality.
