5.0 out of 5 stars Eclipse AVN6620, January 30, 2010

This review is from: Eclipse AVN6620 DVD Navigation System with 7-Inch Wide TFT Display and Dual DVD Multi-Source Receiver (Electronics)
I have recently installed the AVN6620 in my car. I am pleased with the unit with one exception. The IPC-106 iPod adapter. I wish my iPod would play "video" on the unit. The DVD movie play great without any issues. The GPS is as good as it gets. However I wish Eclipse would come out with more up to date POI's. Eclipse hands free Bluetooth BT-E600 works perfectly. However, voice commands feature is terrible. Prior to purchasing this unit I had a simple $45 hands free unit on my sun visor, but the speaker sound was lower than the wind noise being on the freeway. I love the fact that I can just hop in the car and as soon as it starts Bluetooth is linked up, even if im on the pnone while getting in the car it transfers my call to Bluetooth and I can just set the phone down and drive.

4.0 out of 5 stars Came with a used motorhome we bought, December 3, 2010

This is way fancier than something I would have bought for myself, but now that I am getting to know it, I think it's pretty neat.

Once we figured out how to get the navigation working, it was great, except for a quibble or two -- its instructions were sometimes at odds with what we were seeing on the actual road signs. For example, it would tell me "take the next exit onto I000" when I was actually ON 000 and expecting to exit onto 999 according to my printed maps. With the amount of new highway construction and the already convoluted interchanges throughout southern California, this was a bit nerve-wracking and led to a few scenic diversions. I don't know if a map disk update would help with this.

Some good points about the nav system: it's very good at figuring out exactly where we are (even which lane we're in at times) based on vehicle speed and built-in accelerometer -- it does not rely solely on the GPS signal.

I haven't yet tried the CD / DVD / MP3-CD functionality, but the AM/FM radio sounded decent. The manufacturer's web site lists all kinds of accessories for this unit, and we've already discovered the Bluetooth adapter and the backup camera. I can hardly wait to see what else we find.

I love this item, I have had mines for 2 years, the turn by turn navigation is excellent, and the sound quality is very good. I want to add RTTI to my head unit.
The eclipse Sir-elc2nt tuner is a little expensive. right now but eventually will purchase it.
