5.0 out of 5 stars from pop to blues this is a great album, December 11, 2007
This review is from: Eclipse (Audio CD)
I saw Edward Bear in concert purely by chance in the summer of 1970 and I was so impressed that I went out and bought this LP the next day. This album pre-dates most of their pop material and offers a suprising amount of blues based rock. The group consisted of Larry Evoy on lead vocals and drums, Paul Weldon on keyboards and bass (just like the Doors) and Danny Marks on guitar and vocals. I wore this album out over the years and was glad to hear that it had been released by EMI on CD in 2003. It's probably not everyone's cup of tea as you either like or hate Larry Evoys vocals but Danny Marks slings a mean guitar and it's worth purchasing just for his great fretwork on "Monday". Edward Bear of course topped the pop charts with "Last Song" in the mid 70's with a different band line up but I would think that few fans know what a great band they initially were. This is well worth buying and is a great artifact of Canadian rock music.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Pride of Canada!, July 15, 2011

This review is from: Eclipse (Audio CD)
Well said George! I was a sophomore in high school when a neighbor friend pickup up this lp. I was a fan at once and learned it by heart. each song well done and a masterpiece for sure. Sadly, in the followingyears i did not hear much of this band other than The Last Song 2 years later, which I am afraid did not measure up to Eclipse.
years later another friend was kind enough to obtain the cd version of this thru amazon, much to my pleasure. I am still enjoying this lp after 41 years, mainly Danny Mark's guitar work which is nothing less than superb. For those interested, Danny hosts a saturday nite blues radio show 8 to 12 in the Toronto area. Log onto [...] for details.
