I love 5 Star & miss them between each album release. Distant is my memory of seeing them in concert in 1987, but what I have remaining are all my 5 Star cds, 7", 12" & Videos, which remind me what a superb group the Pearsons are. This album orientates more towards adult r'n'b/soul than what their former pop offering revealed. Nevertheless the group's trademark celestial harmonies & tour de force lead vocals of Denise lend this album the confidence & professionalism that few acts today can live up to. Top trax are the sensational I Get Such A High - Denise hits some very low notes, as smooth as chocolate. Eyes Don't Lie is uplifting & Funktafied sheerly original. The Writing on The Wall (originally on 95's Heart & Soul album) deserves a repeat airing if only to show what a superb voice Denie has. Okay, so their heyday may be long gone, but this cd illustrates what lost talents the record industry has forgone. Sacrilege.

A Beautiful, Soulful, and Mature Album,
By Federick Estrada (New York, NY) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Eclipse (Audio CD)
This CD proves that Britain's former teen pop family can mature into a soulful R&B group. Now based in Los Angeles, Five Star produces and writes most of their songs and these songs are well produced by Delroy Pearson, the youngest of the group, and beautifully sung by Denise Pearson, whose versatille voice rivals that of Toni Braxton and bests most R&B divas out there today. The standout tracks on this CD are "Hung Up" (a soothing, mid-tempo gem), "I Get Such a High" (the best track on the disc featuring wicked voals by Denise), "Funktafied" ( a sexy R&B slow jam), and "Tell Me What You Want" (a beautiful love song written by Denise). "Got a Lot of Love" stands out from the handful of remixed tracks from the group's 1994 CD "Heart and Soul". An overrall excellent effort from the Pearsons and deserves a listen not only from Five Star fans, but fans of great music as well. Highly recommended.

I Get Such A High,
By Douglas Jackson (Reading, PA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Eclipse (Audio CD)
I love this CD from beginning to end. Five Star have ruled my universe since 'All Fall Down' and I just can stop listening to this latest offering. From the hooky 'I Wish Me You' to the absolutely funky attitude of 'One Way Mirror', Five Star delivers a CD I will enjoy over and over. 'Hung Up' and 'I Get Such A High' get more ingrained with each listen and the vocals on '(I Love You) 4 Sentimental Reasons' leaves you breathless.I haven't even mentioned 'Don't Let Me Be The Lonely One' or 'I Give You Give' or 'Get A Life Together' or 'Eyes Don't Lie'. Spread the word.
