5.0 out of 5 stars Better safe than sorry! March 19, 2012

Between the solar eclipse in May and the Venus transit in June 2012, I figured it was time to find my old eclipse glasses. After years of careless storage and potential scratches, I didn't trust them, so it was time for new ones. I ended up buying two packs of these, and I figure me and nine other people will be that much safer watching solar events. Also, don't forget to check spaceweather.com for large sunspots that can also be viewed with these babies!

4.0 out of 5 stars Eclipse glasses review June 8, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase
The glasses arrived promptly and were useful for viewing the annular solar eclipse. One thing I didn't notice however was a warning about not looking at the sun with them on for more than 3 minutes. My husband noticed this and told me about it. It would be good to include that information more prominently, so it will be blatantly obvious - IN LARGE LETTERS - on the outside of the glasses themselves. It was printed inside the glasses on the ear piece in very small text.

With the up and coming solar eclipse, I had ordered several different sets of glasses. They came in orange, black, red/black, yellow on the sides, and in neon colors.

I assumed they were all the same, but as I tested them, I found some differences in them. I asked the sellers more about them and one told me that Dr. Ralph Chou greatly approves of the one made with SolarSkreen lenses, which I found in the glasses with the yellow on the sides and the ones with neon frames.

Who the heck is Dr. Ralph Chou, so I did a quick Google search and found he's a professor of optometry at University of Waterloo and developed the eye safety standards with NASA for viewing solar eclipses. It's an interesting article to read.

I am certainly glad I found out this information and it certainly makes me feel better somebody reputable is recommending one of these solar glasses.

5.0 out of 5 stars I bought these for the annular eclipse last year.
They worked great! We even put it over the camera lens so we can take photos and that worked. I felt very safe looking through them, with no worries.

5.0 out of 5 stars The are what they are.
If you put them on and look at the sun they work. What more could you ask for? Used them for an eclipse and transit of Venus. Worked well for both.
